报告简介:固体弹性在自然界和工程学中起着至关重要的作用。通过表面微观工程学、引入刺激响应材料,我们已经开始关于双层结构(皱纹和折痕的弹性不稳定性)的透视研究。在柔性环境(如凝胶、弹性体)中对表面不稳定性的精确控制已经具备应用于生物学和生物医学领域的潜能。我们也在考虑将弹性不稳定性作为未来电子应用的关键功能。我们还开发了一种基于莱顿弗罗斯特效应(Leidenfrost effect )引起的热表面弹性凝胶蹦床的新兴热电发电技术,该技术是在凝胶弹性和莱顿弗罗斯特效应的耦合作用下发生的。热能在自我构建的压电水凝胶系统支持下通过机械运动转化为电能。基于选择不同溶液浓度的凝胶粒子,粒径(4mm-25mm),弹性(0.5kPa-500 kPa),以及诸如质量损失、冲击动力学等的优化体系,我们实现了能够产生3V的转换装置,并基于整合系列装置此能够得到更高的输出量(>30V)。上述这些发现开拓了制造能量采集设备的方法,并且提供了在地热源富集地区的电能采集的潜在解决途径。

Elasticity of solids play a crucial role in many systems in nature and engineering. We have initialised perspective researches on configuring elastic instabilities (wrinkles and creases) of bilayer structures, by micro-engineering the surfaces and/or introducing the stimuli-responsive materials. Exercising precise control over surface instability patterns on soft contexts such as gels and elastomer, has been demonstrated with the potential applications in biological and biomedical contexts. We were also looking into to harness the elastic instability as key function in future electronics applications. We also developed an emerging thermo-electric generating technology based on Leidenfrost effect induced trampolining of elastic gel on hot surface, which was occurred under a coupling effect from the elasticity of gel and Leidenfrost effect. The thermal energy was transferred into electric energy through a Leidenfrost activated mechanical motion, supported by a self-constructed piezoelectric-hydrogel system.

报告人简介:徐斌博士是英国诺森比亚大学机械工程创新研究系的主任,副教授,在响应型材料、应用力学和微观工程方面拥有丰富的专业知识。据JCR期刊引用报告统计,他已发表了超过35篇经同行审稿文章,这些文章通常刊登在前5%的期刊中。徐博士是2017年英国工程与自然研究理事会的杰出审稿人,荣获2016年国际聚合物网络组青年研究者奖、2016年RSC-CSCST杰出青年奖、2016年英国工程与自然研究理事会科学摄影大赛三等奖。他是英国材料矿物和采矿协会(FIMMM)会士、特许科学家(CSCI)、特许工程师(CEng)、英国皇家化学学会(RSC)的成员、英国和欧共体资助机构评委(EPSRC peer review college)、旅英中国学人化学科学与技术学会(CSCST-UK)副主席。徐博士担任超过20种SCI期刊的评论员、国际会议(或分会)主席。他参与了EPSRC资助的英国流体网络(UKFN、EP / N032861 / 1等)中的三个特别兴趣小组(SIGs),并作为管理团队成员为诺森比亚大学(Northumbria)负责的特别兴趣小组作出贡献。

Dr. Ben B. Xu is an associate professor and Director of research and innovation in Mechanical Engineering, with expertise in responsive materials, applied mechanics and micro-engineering. He has published over 35 peer-reviewed journal articles, frequently in top 5% journals (according to JCR). Dr Xu is a multiple award winner for the 2017 outstanding reviewer for EPSRC, 2016 Young investigator award by the International Polymer Networks Group, 2016 RSC-CSCST Emerging Talent Grant and 3rd prize in 2016 EPSRC science photo competition. He is an elected Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM), a chartered scientist (CSci), a chartered engineer (CEng), a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), a full EPSRC peer review college member, and a vice chairman for The Chinese Society of Chemical Science and Technology (CSCST-UK). Dr Xu holds active profiles as reviewers for over 20 SCI journals, chairs for the international conferences(or sessions). He has been involved in three Special Interest Groups (SIGs) in the EPSRC funded UK Fluid network (UKFN, EP/N032861/1, etc) and contributed as a management team member for one of SIGs led by Northumbria.
