Six Young Professors of NPU Were Awarded the “Outstanding Youth Science Fund” Project in Shaanxi Province in 2019

Recently, Shaanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology announced the list of winners of the “Outstanding Youth Science Fund” in 2019. A total of 33 young scholars were selected in the province. Six young professors of NPU received funding. They are Li Huiping, Li Hongwei, Fan Xiaoli, Xie Keyu, Gu Junwei, Huang Qinghua.

Li Huiping, Professor, Ph.D., Assistant Dean ofSchool of Marine Science and Technology. He is mainly engaged in research on intelligent vehicle navigation and decision making, model predictive control, and networked multi-agents. He has presided over 8 research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation. He is the first author who published Springer's monograph in English and published more than 30 papers, including 10 authoritative journals Automatica, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, and more than 1,000 references by Google Scholar. As Northwestern Polytechnical University’s "Aoxiang New Star", Shaanxi Province "Young Technology New Star", he was awarded the 2019 Shaanxi Natural Fund Outstanding Youth Fund. He is a member of the editorial board of many well-known international journals such as IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics and ASME Journal on Dynamic Systems, Measurement and Control. He is a member of the IEEE Industrial Internet of Things Professional Committee and a member of the International Program Committee for more than 20 well-known international conferences.

Li Hongwei, Professor of School of Materials Science and Engineering, Ph.D., Postdoctoral Fellow of the Georgia Institute of Technology, Deputy Director of the High-Performance Precision Forming Technology and Equipment Experiment of Shaanxi Province, and the “New Century Excellent Talent Support Program” of the Ministry of Education. He is mainly engaged in advanced plastic forming theory and technology research, and has made important progress in the theory and technology of multi-scale modeling and shape coordination control for the accurate plastic forming of difficult-to-form structures in aerospace difficult materials. As the person in charge, he has undertaken more than 20 national/provincial and ministerial-level projects such as the National Fund Key Support Project and the National 973 Sub-project, and participated in the research work of the National Outstanding Youth Fund and key projects. He has published more than 80 papers on th Int J Plast (IJP), J Mater Process Technol (JMPT) with a citation for more than 500 times.. He was invited to make Keynote and invitation reports for 3 times in top international conferences in this field; 7 invention patents were granted; 1 second prize of National Natural Science and 2 first prizes of Shaanxi Science and Technology.

Fan Xiaoli, Professor of School of Materials Science and Engineering, Ph.D. Vice Dean of QMES, NPU, Director of International Centre for Teaching and Learning, Member of the 12th CPPCC member of Shaanxi Province; member of China Materials and Testing Standards Platform Materials Field, member and deputy secretary-general of the China Materials Society Computational Materials Branch,; New Century Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education, the first soaring young scholar of Northwestern Polytechnical University, and young scholar of Northwestern Polytechnical University. Her research direction is micro-scale simulation of materials, mainly engaged in material thermodynamic stability structure, properties, properties, lubrication friction process and mechanism research. She has presided over research projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the key research and development plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Natural Science Foundation of Shaanxi Province, and the Ministry of Education Fund. The research results won the first prize of the Natural Science Award of Shaanxi Provincial Higher Education and the first prize of the Excellent Natural Science Paper of Henan Province. Her research results are published in Nano letters, Advanced materials, Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Physical Review Letters, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Green Chemistry, Acs Applied Materials & Interfaces, Physical Review B, Journal of Physical Chemistry C, Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics and other well-known journals.

Gu Junwei, professor, Ph.D., Aoxiang Distinguished Young Scholars, winner of the Outstanding Youth Science Fund of Shaanxi Province. He is mainly engaged in structural/functional integration design, preparation and processing of functional polymer composites and advanced resin-based composites. He is currently the head of the Department of Applied Chemistry of the Faculty of Science and the head of the Institute of Intelligent Materials and Structures of the Institute of Unmanned Systems Technology. He is also a consultant of the National Key Research and Development Program, a member of the Youth Work Committee of the China Composite Materials Society, and a member of Nanocomposite Committee of the China Composite Materials Society; a member of the European Society of Plastics Engineers, a life-longmember of the China Society for Materials Research and a member of the China Composite Materials Society. He is Associate Editor of Advanced Composites and Hybrid Materials (Springer-Nature) and Executive Editor of Engineered Science Journal. He has presided over 15 national, provincial and ministerial fund projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation, military supporting projects, and special research funds for doctoral programs in higher education institutions.

Huang Qinghua, Professor and Ph.D., Optical Image Analysis and Learning Center, Northwestern Polytechnical University. His main research interests include medical ultrasound imaging, medical data mining and pattern analysis, intelligent assisted diagnosis and medical robots. He has hosted 3 National Natural Science Foundation projects and more than 10 provincial-level, industry-university-research cooperation projects. He has published more than 150 papers, including more than 20 IEEE/ACM journal papers, more than 70 papers for SCI, 25 patents and 4 software copyrights. He has been selected as a full-time special professor of the “Hundred Talents Program” in Shaanxi Province, “New Century Excellent Talents” of the Ministry of Education. He has also won the first prize of Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Award and the best paper award of several international academic conferences. He is currently the Deputy Secretary-General of the National Medical Artificial Intelligence Group and a consultant for big data experts of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. He is invited to be the editor-in-chief for many international journals such as Biomed Research International, Mathematical Biosciences and engineering.

Xie Keyu, Professor and Ph.D., School of Materials Science and Engineering, Northwestern Polytechnical University. He is Deputy Director of Shaanxi Graphene Joint Laboratory (Northwestern Polytechnical University) and Director of Shaanxi Power Supply Association. He was selected as “Young Talents Support Program” for colleges and universities in Shaanxi Province and “Ao’xiang Star” of NPU. He is mainly engaged in the electrochemical functionalization of metal, the use of new energy materials and battery electrochemical research. He has presided over/participated in the National Key R&D Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China/Youth Project/International Cooperation and Exchange Program, the Doctoral Fund of the Ministry of Education and the Hong Kong Research and Development Agency, and the Shaanxi Key Industry Innovation Chain. He has published more than 50 academic papers in high-level SCI journals including Advanced Materials, Nano Letters, Energy & Environmental Science, Advanced Energy Materials, etc., applied for more than 30 patents, and wrote one English monograph. The research results were featured in many well-known academic media at home and abroad, such as ScienceDaily, Phys.Org., EurekAlert! Science News, DOE Science News Source, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
