QMES Held the 16th Meeting of the Joint Administrative Committee

On December 11, the Sixteenth Joint Administrative Committee (hereinafter referred to as “JAC”) Meeting of QMES was held at the Conference Room 602 of the West Building of Graduate Studies, Youyi Campus. Fifteen committee members in total attended the meeting, including Yang Yixin, Member of the Party Standing Committee, Vice President of NPU, and Chair of JAC; Wang Wen, Vice Principal of QMUL and Vice Chair of the JAC; Wang Haipeng, Director of Undergraduate Academic Affairs Department of NPU; Fan Xiaoli, Dean of QMES; Dai Fuping, Secretary of QMES Party Committee and Vice Dean of QMES; Gabriel Cavalli, Executive Vice Dean of QMES; Cheng Yin, Vice Dean of QMES; Zhou Yongcun, Assistant to the Dean of QMES, all department directors, and Education Manager Li Yangyang. Yang Yixin chaired the meeting.

During the meeting, all committee members reviewed and approved the personnel changes on JAC members, Executive Vice Dean, and ICTL Director. They also examined the financial reports from both the QMES and QMUL sides. Brief reports were given by Fan Xiaoli, Cheng Yin, and Gabriel Cavalli on this semester’s teaching affairs, the progress of the dual-master programme, student affairs, and recent development of ICTL and JRI.

On behalf of QMUL and President Colin Bailey, Wang Wen extended sincere congratulations to Professor Song Baowei, the President of NPU, on his election as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He pointed out that NPU and QMUL are research-oriented universities with strong faculty resources. The number of academicians in both universities respectively ranks among the top in China and the UK, which provides a solid guarantee for the long-term and stable development of international educational cooperation. In addition, He congratulated the students of QMES on their outstanding performance in the 9th China International College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, where they won 6 gold medals and 2 silver medals. Yang Yixin said that the remarkable achievements of the students in innovation and entrepreneurship, internships, and further development fully demonstrate the scientific and effective nature of the collaborative education pattern between the two universities. He expressed that owing to the joint efforts and collaboration of both QMES and QMUL teams, significant progress and improvements have been made in teaching affairs, teacher training, admissions, innovation competitions, and career development in this semester. He hoped that both sides should continue striving and working together, so as to make greater achievements.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide an updated review of the key tasks of QMES in the current semester and to keep all JAC members informed of its latest development condition. QMES will carefully listen to all committee members’ suggestions, summarize valuable experiences, highlight strengths and educational characteristics of QMES, and consistently improve the level of management and education.
