QMES Successfully Held an “Experience Sharing Meeting of the Application for G5 Universities in the UK”

On March 18, 2021, QMES successfully held an “experience sharing meeting of the application for G5 universities in the UK”.Chen Ruichao and Yang Chongyao, students majoring in Materials Science and Engineering of QMES in grade 2017, were invited to attend this meeting.Combined with their own learning and application experience, these two seniors have guided the students to improve their comprehensive quality and international ability during their undergraduate stage, and plan the overseas study program in a scientific and diversified manner, so as to lay a solid foundation for their career development planning in the future.Nearly 70 students from all grades of QMES participated in this meeting.

Chen Ruichao had two experiences of studying and practicing in the UK, and has obtained theExcellent Completion Certificate of Winter Camp at University College London (UCL) as well as the recommendation letter from a well-known professor.At present, he has been admitted to 9 world-class universities, including Imperial College London, University College London and University of Manchester.At this meeting, Chen Ruichao introduced that he analyzed his own strengths and weaknesses based on SWOT Model, chose the appropriate school scientifically and rationally, explained in detail how to plan his direction for studying abroad and how to write more distinctive PS and recommendation letters, and highlighted the key nodes during the application process of these prestigious universities.His whole sharing benefited all the students.

Yang Chongyao once participated in the summer camp at QMUL and participated in the technical research and development of listed companies as an intern.Up to now, she has applied for and received admission letters from 5 prestigious universities in the UK, including University College London, University of Manchester and University of Bristol.She shared her experience on the planning and preparation for overseas study, the IELTS test skills, the choice of school and major, the steps and procedures of application, etc., and answered questions about the problems encountered by students during the process of applying for overseas study.The sharing meeting was successfully ended in the exchange and interaction among students, the atmosphere was very active, and all the students at the meeting expressed that they had benefited a lot.

This sharing meeting provided valuable experience for the students, strengthened their confidence in hard work and enhanced their motivation for learning to a great extent. It is hoped that the students can fly their dreams and set sail on the new channel.
