Tony Michael currently works at the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences, Queen Mary University of London. Tony conducts research into the role for the stress hormone, cortisol, in various tissues, primarily in the context of reproduction (with a focus on the ovary and placenta). His principle line of research builds on his observations of an association between altered ovarian metabolism of cortisol and the likelihood of achieving pregnancy in women undergoing in vitro fertilisation (IVF). In clinical collaborations, he also investigates the consequences of cortisol synthesis and metabolism in the placenta and in the skin.
