Grow Like a Fresh Lotus——Documentary of Undergraduate Teaching Assessment of QMES

From April 15thto 19th, Undergraduate Teaching Assessment judge panel of the Ministry of Education conducted a five-day on-site inspection and evaluation in NPU. During the evaluation, Academician Zhang Guangjun, head of the judge panel, President of Southeast University, Prof. Yao Yu, President of Harbin Engineering University, Prof. Yan Wenfan, Director of the Education Leadership Department of University of Massachusetts Boston and Prof. Yan Kaiyin, former President of Southwest Jiaotong University successively visited QMES and comprehensively inspected the personnel training objectives, education and teaching reforms and teaching quality systems.

The experts visited smart classrooms, innovative laboratories, academic seminar rooms and other teaching places. They highly praised the unique full-English lecturing class (20 participants) that is taught all by foreign teachers and the promotion of first-rate teaching places toward the reform of teaching models, students’ enthusiasm for learning and learning results. The expert evaluated on-site that "The teaching model is the most important. It is my first time to see this in China. The students are very lucky...". While visiting student home, student lounge area, one-stop office area and coffee room, the experts expressed appreciation for the “student-centred and humanism-oriented” educational philosophy.

After listening to the experts' guidance, Kong Jie said on behalf of QMES that he would make use of this inspection and evaluation as an opportunity and benchmark to implement the guidance in a comprehensive manner through special studies, special rectification and other measures. In the future, the college will continue to “increase quality and efficiency”, promote connotative development and integrate the “student-centred and humanisim-oriented” educational philosophy into the new model in talent development of China and the UK so as to make new contributions to the NPU's "Double first-class" constructions.
