The 3rd Innovation and Entrepreneurship Culture Month of QMES Successfully Opened

QMES attaches great importance to organizing and cultivating innovation and entrepreneurship projects for university students. In order to further create a favorable atmosphere that advocates science and encourages innovation, and to fully mobilize students’ enthusiasm to participate in innovative entrepreneurial practices and related competitions, the school is committed to continuously promoting the high-quality development of innovation and entrepreneurship education. In November 2023, the school launched the third series of activities for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Culture Month, and the opening ceremony was held on November 8, 2023.

The opening ceremony was attended by Fan Xiaoli, Dean of QMES; Gu Junwei, Vice Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering; Cheng Yin, Vice Dean of QMES; Huang Quanzhang, Secretary of QMES Youth League Committee; representatives of the Youth League, and undergraduate students from the grades 2022 and 2023. It was hosted by 2022 undergraduate student Li Xinhao.

At the beginning, the host Li Xinhao introduced the process and overall arrangement of the opening ceremony

Secondly, Dean Fan Xiaoli delivered a speech. She mentioned that in recent years, the school has combined the curriculum system of profession-practice-creation progressively, fully leveraging the collaborative education characteristics and advantages of the School, tailoring a research-oriented education system, and opening up new paths for students’ innovative practices. Remarkable achievements have been made in cultivating innovative abilities, which have been recognized by students, society, and parents. Taking the opportunity of the third Innovation and Entrepreneurship Culture Month, QMES will drive teaching and research in tandem, continuously enhance the level of research-oriented education, and improve the interactive mechanism for fostering innovation spirit and capabilities.

Then, Xu Jiayue, a student from the grade 2020, representing advanced individuals in innovation and entrepreneurship, delivered a speech. She shared with her fellow students three aspects: the essence, significance, and personal experiences in innovation and entrepreneurship. She introduced her valuable experiences as the head of the Operations Team at NIUVS and as a leader in San Yuan Technology, as well as showed the remarkable achievements of several projects, including the “Drone Cloud System” and “Nuclear Reactor Shell Tube.” She encouraged younger students to actively participate in entrepreneurship and innovation, make rational use of various platforms provided by the school, and find like-minded partners. She emphasized the importance of gaining knowledge, skills, and accomplishments through extracurricular activities.

Next, Professor Gu Junwei delivered a fascinating academic lecture on “Thermally Conductive Polymer Composite Materials.” He started by addressing the increasingly prominent issues of heat conduction and dissipation in major technological fields. He provided an accessible introduction to the research progress of the Structural/Functional Polymer Composites (SFPC) research group in the design of ordered molecular microstructures, multi-scale heat conduction path design, optimization and regulation of heat conduction filler-filler and heat conduction filler-polymer matrix interfaces, construction of heat conduction models and empirical equations, and heat conduction mechanisms. He also shared some ideas and measures taken by the research group in talent development, including undergraduate and graduate students. Finally, he encouraged the students to focus on practical development needs, actively explore innovative paths, and find their own path in entrepreneurship and innovation.

Innovation and entrepreneurship are a gateway to the future and an adventurous journey of brave exploration. The opening of this Innovation and Entrepreneurship Culture Month is not only a recognition of the school’s outstanding achievements but also the starting point for a new journey of innovation and entrepreneurship. In the next step, the school will continue to leverage the advantages of international cooperation and collaboration, encourage students to actively engage in innovative entrepreneurial practices, and cultivate their abilities to take risks and create. QMES will inject the call of the times, the power of innovation, and the vitality of youth into the vast land of China. Through vivid practical experiences of every innovation and entrepreneurship endeavor, we will gather the mighty force of national development and contribute the youth'’ strength to achieving the new goals of “127” development of the school and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation!
