The 2019 Cohort Students of QMES Held Youth League Day Activity

On March 15, 2020, President Xi Jinping wrote a letter to the young Party members of the Peking University who offeredmedical supportto Hubei Province, stating that if the young generation has ideals, abilities and responsibilities, the country will have future and the nationwill havehope. In his affectionate reply, President Xihighly recognizedthe Chinese youthofthe new eraandencouragedyoung people from all walks of life.

From March 16th to March 22nd, 2020, all 6 Youth League branchesofMaterials Science and Engineermajorof the 2019cohortof QMES organized a series of Youth League Day activities to promotethe “Lei Feng spirit”as well assharing experienceduring the fight againstthe epidemic. During the activities, students collectively studied theletterof President Xi, exchanged personal ideas and shared the typical casesof the young peoplearoundthem infightingagainst the COVID-19. Through the study,they further understood the national anti-epidemic timeline and conducted an overall analysis of the epidemic situationat homeand abroad. At the same time, they alsoheldin-depthdiscussionon“Lei Feng spirit”.

During the discussion, members of all 6 branches expressed their opinions. Some discussed the different strategiesbetween China and foreign countries in fightingagainsttheepidemic and expounded thepros and consof various prevention measuresthathadbeentaken; some shared their experiences in participating in the frontline volunteerjobsof the fight and helping the children of medical staffwith their studies; somedeeplyanalyzed the fundamental problems in preventingtheepidemic and the causes of the epidemic raging in some western countriesso that the members of the league deeply realized the superiority of the socialist system. In addition, the students also focused on learning the spirit of Lei Feng under the leadership of the secretary of the League branches and understood the young people's responsibility for the country.

In the above-mentionedactivities, theleaguemembers learned the connotation of “Lei Fengspirit” and found the value ofitin the youths around them. Just as President Xi said: "I hope that the majority oftheyoung peoplewillnot be afraid of the obstacles andwillbravelyshoulder theirresponsibilitiesand consequentlymake a difference in the places where the Party and the people need themthemost."
