The project of “AoXiang 3D Technology——Advanced Ceramic Turbine Cover 3D Printing Customizer” by our 2018 undergraduates Zhang Yuxiang, Ma Yiran, Wang Junyi, Jin Shuo, Liu Yekun, Li Peishan, Zhou Jinyang, Huang Chenyu, Wu Xiaoyu, and Su Yi, won the gold medal in the final.

According to project manager, “AoXiang 3D Technology” takes customized polymer derived ceramics materials as the core. The project is a customized 3D printing service provider based on digital lighting process 3D printing technology and aims to promote the international market operation of 3D printed ceramic materials with all-factor technology services. The company’s main business is the customized development of 3D printable ceramic materials, and also provides DLP-3D printing technology, isostatic sintering and other ancillary services. Advanced ceramic materials through 3D printing can be used in machinery manufacturing, electronic communications, aerospace and other fields to manufacture parts, with a very broad market prospect.

The project participated the 18th“SanHang Cup” extracurricular scientific and technological work competition and won the special prize in the “Challenge Cup” competition in March. Then, this project received particular focus and school’s cultivation. Since March 2020, under the guidance of the Student Work Department of the school’s Party Committee, the school’s Youth League Committee, the college’s Youth League Committee and the instructor, Prof. Kong Jie, the project has experienced a series of training and guidance. In addition, the project team members also took the initiative to consult project management experts, innovation and entrepreneurship competition experts and investors on specific problems encountered in the project operation and competition preparation, and constantly polished, refined and improved the competitiveness of the project. Throughout the summer, the students have been actively preparing for the competition, sacrificing their personal time, studying hard, and often revising the project declaration and mock report rehearsals until late at night, or even overnight. With the hard training and cooperation of all the team members, the project finally won the gold medal in the provincial competition and successfully advanced to the national competition.

Our undergraduate team is the only undergraduate team to win the Gold Award, which fully demonstrates the good spirit of QMUL’s students who are good at thinking and active in practice, daring to strive, innovative, united and collaborative. Our students carry forward the spirit of the times, grasp the pulse of the times and closely integrate their knowledge with economic and social development.
