QMES Leader Visited Ireland and the UK with A Delegation

From November 9th to 16th, Dai Fuping, Secretary of the QMES Party Committee, joined the International Conference Delegation of Quality Assurance in Chinese-Foreign Cooperative Education to visit Ireland and the UK. The delegation consisted of leading experts from China Education Association for International Exchange, China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center (CDGDC), and Chinese-foreign cooperative education institutions and projects of 20 universities across 11 provinces.

In Ireland, the delegation held discussions with the Irish Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), and the Irish Education Promotion Agency. They also visited Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin, and convened the “Forum on Quality Assurance of China-Ireland Cooperation in Running Schools” at University College Dublin, in which representatives from 11 Irish universities were present. In the UK, the delegation visited the University of Cambridge, the University of Edinburgh, Universities UK International (UUKi), the British Council, and the Association of Education and Technology (AET). They jointly organized the “Forum on Quality Assurance of China-UK Cooperation in Running Schools” with the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education of the UK, which was attended by representatives from the University of Edinburgh, the University of Glasgow, the University of Dundee, and several other UK universities.

During the visit, Dai Fuping actively promoted the distinctive educational features and achievements of NPU to foreign participants, and detailed NPU’s policies and initiatives for international openness. He particularly emphasized the educational characteristics, specific measures, and educational accomplishments of QMES. Furthermore, he gained in-depth insights into the latest international talent and innovation strategies in Ireland and the UK, as well as the status of collaborative educational efforts between China and Ireland, and China and the UK. In addition, he proactively explored new cooperative education pathways with various universities and foreign institutions, engaging in meaningful discussions on strengthening quality assurance and promoting the high-level development of cooperative education. It was evident that there was a concerted effort to establish new collaborative intentions with relevant universities.

In the course of the tight schedule, the delegation also visited the Chinese embassy in Ireland and the UK. Wang Jiabao, the Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Ireland, and Zhang Jin, Minister Counsellor for Education Affairs of the Embassy in UK, met the delegation, providing an overview of the current trends, opportunities, and challenges in China-Ireland and China-UK educational exchanges.

In the end, Dai Fuping also paid a visit to young alumni of QMES who have pursued further studies at the University of Cambridge over the past three years. He encouraged them to strive for academic excellence, keep a positive and proactive attitude, set a good example for their fellow students, bring positive force to the development of QMES, and facilitate the international cooperation of NPU.
