QMES Held the Opening Ceremony of Internship and Practice Base at the Chongqing Scientific Innovation Center of NPU

On July 12, 2023, QMES held the opening ceremony of the internship and practice base for college students at the Chongqing Scientific Innovation Center of NPU, so as to further strengthen the construction of practice and employment base of QMES, and improve the quality of talents training and students’ employment competitiveness. Professor Li Jinshan, Executive Director and Chief Scientist of the Center, and Fan Xiaoli, Dean of QMES, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. The ceremony was presided over by Zhang Tiebang, Deputy Director of the Center.

Fan Xiaoli was surprised at the rapid formation of the integration of learning, research, practice and production and the scale of the incubation industry of the Center. She also extended her gratitude towards the Center for its support to the internship and practice of QMES’ student. She believed the Center provided an excellent platform for social practice and scientific research, which is a solid backing for the talents training of QMES. Students can not only conduct their scientific research and practical activities here both in undergraduate and graduate periods, but also have opportunities to follow the supervisors of the Center to carry out in-depth scientific research after graduation, obtaining continuous academic guidance. In addition, the Center has rich scientific research resources and good experimental conditions, which promotes the development of students’ scientific research ability and the output of academic achievements.

Li Jinshan stated that QMES and the Innovation Center have established a good cooperative foundation. The students who have accepted the joint training of both QMES and the Scientific Innovation Center not only have a solid foundation in materials science discipline, but also acquire an international perspective. And the number of students applying for studying abroad has increased significantly recently, which further enhances the international influence of QMES in the field of materials science discipline. The signing of this cooperation agreement provides an opportunity to integrate “Chief Engineer Culture” into the cultivation of international innovative talents in the field of materials science. The Center will adhere to the fundamental education task of cultivating virtues and morality, integrate the culture and talents training concept of NPU, input all the laboratories, research supervisors, and incubated enterprises to actively undertake the main task of “talent training” of the Center.

QMES has established close cooperation with the off-site research institutions of NPU, aiming to provide students various practical opportunities. Through participating in the production, research, and innovation activities of enterprises, students can deeply understand the operation and management methods of enterprises, grasp the development trends and cutting-edge technologies of the industry, and improve practical ability and comprehensive quality. QMES will take this cooperation as an important starting point to realize complementary advantages, resource sharing, and mutual benefit of the two sides. QMES will actively explore new pattern of cooperation between the school and enterprises, and continuously promote the deepening and improvement of integrated talents training model of learning, research, practice and production.
