Zhang Kaifu, Assistant to the President of NPU, Delivered an Ideological and Political Course to Students of QMES and Honors College

On the morning of November 24, 2021, Zhang Kaifu, Assistant to the President of NPU, gave an ideological and political course to student representatives of QMES and Honors College at Qi Zhen Community of Haitian Yuan, Chang’an Campus. Dai Fuping, Party Secretary of QMES, Kang Pengjun, Deputy Party Secretary of Honors College, and Zhou Kai, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of NPU, participated in this course as well.

Firstly, Zhang Kaifu guided the students to review the brilliant achievements that our country had made in many aspects, including in the national economy and social development since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and pointed out that young people in the new era should constantly strengthen their ambition and confidence as Chinese people, so as to live up to the requirements of the times and the ardent expectations of the CPC and the people. Furthermore, he said that the ideological and political work of colleges and universities must always implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speeches at important conferences, such as the National Conference on Ideological and Political Work at Institutions of Higher Learning and the National Education Conference; always adhere to the fundamental task of education—fostering virtue, so as to focus on students, care for students and serve students; and constantly improve students’ ideological level, political discernment, moral quality and cultural literacy, nurturing students to talents with moral grounding and intellectual ability and all-round development. At the same time, he encouraged the students not only to have high ambitions, but also to constantly work hard with pragmatic and sustained efforts.

After this course, Zhang Kaifu communicated with the students in a warm atmosphere. When talking about how to become an excellent scientific researcher, he said that young students in the new era should continuously enhance their capabilities of research and innovation and entrepreneurship, deeply integrate the theoretical knowledge they have learned and flexibly apply them in practice; and strive to develop their personal leadership, strategic vision and critical thinking, be diligent in thinking and have the courage to explore. Finally, Zhang Kaifu encouraged the students to always keep the entrustment of General Secretary Xi Jinping in mind, shoulder the great historical mission, strengthen the confidence of moving forward, and strive to become the new talents of the times, so as to make their youth bloom in the unremitting struggle for their motherland, for the nation, for the people and all the mankind.
