QMES Held a Report on “Challenge Yourself and Create Your Dream through Scientific Innovation”

Under the severe and complex situation of epidemic prevention and control, in order to further improve the work of scientific research and education, stimulate students’ enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, enhance their innovation awareness, cultivate their innovation ability, activate the academic atmosphere of scientific research, and help students improve their scientific research ability and academic level, QMES invited Professor Li Zhen from School of Materials Science and Engineering to hold an online academic meeting on “Challenge Yourself and Create Your Dream through Scientific Innovation” for students at 15:00 on January 7, 2022.The report focused on the significance, requirements and skills of students’ active participation in scientific research. Fan Xiaoli, Vice Dean of Teaching Affairs of QMES, attended this meeting.

Professor Li Zhen briefly introduced the origin of the “Challenge Cup”, and emphasized the significance of the competition:for students, participating in the competition can create opportunities for their postgraduate recommendation and study abroad and enrich their resumes, which is beneficial to students’ academic development. At the same time, it will also broaden students’ horizons, which can help their long-term career development;while for the society and the country, the innovative ability and spirit of the new generation fostered by the competitions is the first productive force of national development, and is of great significance to the development of various fields in China.After that, Professor Li shared his scientific research experience in Tsinghua University and abroad.Finally, he encouraged the students to stick to the end when doing scientific research, try to actively participate in various scientific research competitions during their university years, and believe that they will certainly achieve ideal results.

In the second part of the report, Professor Li invited Qiu Quanrun, the outstanding student representative of his team, to share his experience in the competition.Starting from his personal experience and process of participating in competition of innovation and entrepreneurship, Qiu Quanrun introduced the significance ofentrepreneurship and entrepreneurship competition for university students to cultivate “Achievement Transformation Thinking”.Next, he focused on the specific characteristics of the “Challenge Cup” and “Internet +” competition, and introduced how to complete various preparations for the competitions.He said thatthe introduction of a project is like telling a story, starting from the core technology of the product to its innovation and advanced nature. Presentation in the form of PPT and Project Plan is the basic process of preparing for the competition, and subsequent preparations should be improved one by one around this competition.Finally, Qiu quanrun encouraged the students to participate in the competitions with a positive attitude. A good attitude is the basis of success. He hoped that the students would make full use of the winter vacation to polish their projects and strive to make a breakthrough in the competitions next year.

At the end of the report, Fan Xiaoli put forward herardent hope to the students. She hoped that the students would inherit the excellent competition tradition of QMES and carry forward the strong atmosphere of scientific research competition of QMES, and sincerely wished the students a successful competition and a bright future.

During the epidemic, QMES insisted on continuous academic exchanges and did not stop the work of scientific research and education.This report provided scientific guidance for students’ scientific research during their undergraduate studies, promoted their in-depth understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship, greatly mobilized their enthusiasm for innovation and entrepreneurship, and cultivated their innovative and creative spirit.During the epidemic period, QMES students maintained a high degree of enthusiasm for learning and scientific research, and worked together to fight the epidemic, which laid a good foundation for the smooth development of scientific research and education of QMES during the period of epidemic prevention and control.
