Fighting the Covid-19 with One Heart — QMES Youth Volunteers Were Taking Actions

Since Xi’an’s management on epidemic prevention and control was upgraded on December 27, 2021, QMES strictly implemented NPU’s epidemic prevention and control measures, and all the students and faculty members were working together in an active and orderly manner. In order to ensure students’ life remain stable and orderly, QMES Party branches and the Youth League Committee coordinated the recruitment of volunteers, under the leadership of the QMES Party Committee, which received quick responses from students, especially student Party members and student leaders. During more than 10 days’ volunteer work, a total of 291 students from QMES signed up for volunteer services, and there were a total of 1,103 service visits and nearly 5,000 hours for NPU volunteer services.

QMES always attaches great importance to volunteer work. During this period, Dai Fuping, Party Secretary of QMES, visited students several times at their dormitory. Dean Kong Jie, Vice Dean Fan Xiaoli and Cheng Yin expressed their greetings and concerns to the students through various ways. They highly affirmed and sincerely thanked the volunteers who worked in the front line of epidemic prevention and control, and showed their determination of providing strong support to the volunteers. As for these outstanding volunteers, QMES would commend and award them, and encouraged more students to join the volunteer service team, so as to ensure the order operation of all the works during this special time, such as nucleic acid testing, material distribution, three-meal supply, garbage collection and psychological guidance during the lockdown.

Compared with the previous volunteer works, this volunteer service involved a wide range of people with tough schedules and hard tasks, and was subject to many restrictions of epidemic prevention and control, which was a test for the organization level of the QMES volunteer service. The volunteer work department of the QMES Youth League Committee was responsible for the organization of the volunteer service, and all the members worked together to ensure that the work was planned and carried out in an orderly manner. As the work was progressing smoothly and the students’ enthusiasm of participation was increasing, the service quality was improving significantly and widely recognized by teachers and students.

The pandemic situation in Xi'an had a significant improvement due to days of strict closure and control. It was believed that with the joint efforts of everyone, the victory of this epidemic prevention and control would come soon. This epidemic would eventually end, but the volunteer service would not stop. QMES will continue to attach importance to volunteer services, insist the great anti-epidemic spirit and the volunteer spirit of “Dedication, Mutual Aid, Fraternity and Progress”, and encourage students to participate in volunteer services, undertake the responsibilities given to the youth of the times, and write the chapter of youth of the new era with dedication.
