QMES Successfully Held the Meeting QMUL Teacher Activity

Meeting QMUL Teacher Activity is an online teacher-student exchanging meeting sponsored by the International Center of Teaching and Learning QMES. Dr. Gabriel Cavalli, Director of Teaching Development, said he missed the face-to-face communication with teachers and students before the outbreak of COVID-19, hoping more online after-class exchanges with students. Once proposed, the activity has been welcomed by teachers from QMUL who registered one after another, leaving the whole month of April tightly scheduled.

The first two activities were held on March 22 and March 31, respectively. Two foreign teachers, Alan Allman and Faith Nightingale, were invited, who have stayed here for at least five years since the founding of QMES. Representatives of teachers and students were gathered online and chatted about their experiences and feelings in learning and life, topics covering their views on the Premier League, their favorite Chinese city, the pandemic progress in the UK, film and television appreciation, etc.. The two foreign teachers answered with great gusto, shared their pictures taken in China and their favorite food, and introduced the strategies for IELTS speaking test based on their experience as IELTS interviewers. The teachers and students present communicated enthusiastically with each other in harmonious vibes. With abundant contents, the meeting broadened students' horizon, enriched students' after-school life, and promoted mutual understanding between teachers and students. The exchanging meeting was successfully ended among applause from students and teachers.

Communication can enhance understanding and shorten distance. Thousands of miles apart cannot separate the heart. The meeting further strengthened the communication between the students and the foreign teachers, which also played an active role in improving the teaching and management quality as well as the quality of talent training. QMES has always adhered to the "student-centered " working concept and adopt a responsible attitude toward students, befriending students, caring for students and navigating students through their growth.

Dr. Gabriel Cavalli of the International Center for Teaching and Learning will be invited to attend the next meeting. If you are interested in his story of "subverting the world by snapping a single finger ",his Chinese experiences and pictures of his youth, why not join us on the evening of April 12? We are looking forward to your participation.
