Students of QMES Went to Xi’an Guyi Agency to Watch the Original Qinqiang Opera Zhaojun Departs the Frontier

In order to carry forward fine traditional Chinese culture, promote the spread of Qinqiang Opera art on campus, and improve students’ cultural accomplishment and artistic sentiment, Dai Fuping, Secretary of the Party Committee of QMES, Cheng Yin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of QMES, Yuan Menglei, counselor of QMES, and more than 30 student representatives went to Yisu Theater of Xi’an to watch the original Qinqiang Opera, Zhaojun Departs the Frontier and understand the fine traditional Chinese culture.

Zhaojun Departs the Frontier is a historical drama of Qinqiang Opera, which was created by Xi’an Guyi Agency. It is also a major cultural project in Shaanxi of 2022, and has been selected as “National Historical Theme Creation Project”.

The wonderful performance of performers won applause and cheers from students. After watching the opera, students came on stage to take a group photo with the main creative team and performers together. They also had in-depth exchanges with performers on the historical and cultural background of the opera. The opera not only made students feel the unique charm of Qinqiang art, but also deepened their understanding towards history and culture.

Hui Minli, the winner of the National Model Worker, the winner of Plum Performance Award, Magnolia Award, Splendor Award, National First-Class Performer, and the president of Xi’an Guyi Agency, said that this is a rare opportunity for students to feel the charm of art through the combination of Qin Opera art and history and culture, which will inspire students to draw strength from fine traditional Chinese culture and improve their comprehensive quality. At the same time, Hui Minli encouraged the students of QMES to study hard and strive to become a newcomer who is able to shoulder the great task of national rejuvenation, sing the strongest voice of China together with the Xi’an Guyi Agency.

Secretary Dai Fuping hoped that Guyi Agency could bring traditional opera into the campus and into the classroom, so that more students could further understand opera culture and feel the charm of opera. He hoped that Qinqiang art could be brought into the classroom of students to make more traditional Chinese culture display vitality on campus, make art integrate into education, inject new vitality into the development of aesthetic education of NPU, and help the students of Sino-foreign cooperative education go abroad and tell Chinese stories well.

After watching the opera, students shared their feelings.

Their performance demonstrates the kindness, courage, and selfless spirit of humanity, while reflecting the vicissitudes of history and the changes of times. In general, the drama makes me deeply feel the charm of Qinqiang Opera art and the profound connotation of Chinese culture. This is an unforgettable performance, which also makes me love and respect traditional Chinese culture more.”

Liu Ye said, “I deeply feel the connotation of traditional Chinese opera culture and the importance of cultural self-confidence in today’s China. More fundamental, broader, and deeper cultural confidence is a kind of more fundamental, deeper, and lasting force. It is such a kind of force that gives the youth of the new era more confidence. At the same time, learning the spirit of Zhaojun can also help us stand out !”

In addition, Sun Lin, former Chairman of the Education, Science, Culture and Health Committee of the Standing Committee of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Congress, Kou Yaling, Member of the Party Working Committee of Qujiang New District of Xi’an, Secretary of Party Committee and Chairman of Xi’an Performing Arts Group Co., Ltd., Nan Peng, Vice Chairman of Shaanxi Theatre Association, Chen Chaowu, Vice General manager of Xi’an Guyi Agency, Yang Xiao, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of Publicity Department of NPU, Wu Wenchuan, Director of Student Work Department of the Party Committee and Director of the Student Affairs Office, Dai Fuping, Secretary of the Party Committee of QMES, Chu Jianjie, Vice Director of the Art Education Center attended the event. The two sides of Guyi Agency and NPU signed a cooperation agreement on the joint construction of culture to further inherit and carry forward the fine traditional Chinese culture.

In recent years, QMES has fully implemented the education policy of CPC and the policy deployment of NPU, conscientiously taking people cultivation as the fundamental task of education, attaching importance to the inheritance and development of fine traditional culture. The aesthetic education courses such as “Beijing opera” and “Into the Chinese National Musical Instrument” have been set to meet the diverse needs of students since 2018. With the fine traditional Chinese culture such as opera art coming into campus, the aesthetic education of QMES will be full of vitality through inheritance and innovation.
