Suyu District of Suqian City Held School-locality Cooperation Conference with Queen Mary University of London Engineering School, NPU

On the morning of October 26, Wen Shicai, Standing Member of the District Committee, Director of Organization Department of Suyu District of Suqian City, and his delegation visited QMES to exchange ideas and negotiate on the transformation of scientific research achievements and the establishment of student practice bases. Dean Kong Jie of QMES, ViceDeans Fan Xiaoli and Chen Jun, met witht the guests in conference room. Zhang Tiebang, Director of Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, Shi Xuetao, Director of Faculty of Polymer Materials and Engineering, and staff of QMES attended the conference.

On behalf of QMES, Kong Jie expressed his warm welcome to the arrival of Director Wen Shicai and introduced characteristics and development of QMES. Shi Xuetao gave a detailed introduction to the characteristics of chemistry subject of NPU, the cultivation of talents, the transformation of scientific research results and the service of local economy. Kong Jie pointed out that QMES would give full play to the advantages of Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools, highlight the characteristics of materialsdiscipline, actively meet the development needs of Suyu District of Suqian City, continuously improve the level of industry-university-research collaboration, and strive to provide intelligence support for industrial upgrading and innovation in Suyu District of Suqian City.

Director Wen Shicai expressed his appreciation to QMES’s work in cooperation in running schools, personnel training and national exchanges. He pointed out that NPU and Suqian City, Jiangsu Province have deep roots in collaboration. Suyu District of Suqian City has a number of scientific and technological talents introduction policies in recent years. He wished to use this opportunity to build a platform forschool-locality cooperation and school-enterprise cooperation to further consolidate, deepen and strengthen the cooperative relationship between NPU and Suyu District of Suqian City. It is hoped that this would unblock the channels of industry-university-research collaboration, promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in local area, increase economic efficiency of Suqian, and help NPU realize the Double First construction.

Subsequently, the two sides signed "School-Locality Cooperation Agreement". The meeting ended up in a warm and friendly atmosphere. After the meeting, accompanied by leadership of QMES, Director Wen Shicai and his delegation visited NPU History Museum, Key Laboratory of Polymer Science and Technology of Shaanxi Province, Innovation Lab of QMES, Student Home, Internet Wisdom Classroom, etc, and offered suggested comments for future development of QMES.
