Dr. Andrew Bushby currently is Director of Nano Visual Centre of QMUL. He was Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and then Associate Professor (Reader) in the School of Engineering and Materials Science of QMUL. As a member of Institute of Physics (IOP) and a fellow of the Royal Society of Micrology, he is a leading expert in the technique of nano indentation for small-scale mechanical property measurement. His research has focused on the origin of size effects in mechanical properties. Major research themes include the development of methods using spherical indenters, electromechanical properties of ferroelectric thin films, visco-elastic and composites materials, structure-properties relationships in calcified biological tissues and nano-structured crystalline materials.
