To ensure the smooth and orderly development of teaching affairs, QMES always prepares for normal teaching in advance every semester according to working practices, and makes comprehensive deployment of teaching affairs for new semesters. QMES has formulated two teaching plans, contacted NPU and QMUL teachers to set the stage for online teaching, arranged all kinds of teaching plans carefully, and established a perfect teaching system, which have guaranteed the timely switch between online and offline teaching and orderly progress of every activity.
QMES responded calmly, switched teaching methods smoothly, and carried out online teaching in an orderly manner since August 23, 2022, by following the Notice on the Beginning of Semester A of 2022 and the Notice on the Arrangement of Undergraduate Teaching in the Semester A of the 2022-2023 Academic Year. On September 5, QMES officially started the online teaching in semester A, which achieved "delayed enrollment without disruption to learning".
For the purpose of ensuring that the quality of online teaching and offline teaching is essentially equivalent, QMES arranged a total of 9 teaching supervisors to attend classes respectively. The online inspection was conducted according to the principle of full coverage of all modules. After each lecture, the supervisor completed the evaluation in QMES teaching evaluation system and filled in the Supervision Record (Online) of QMES. Since the beginning of the teaching on September 5, all teachers have actively participated in the supervision work, and the overall experience of the online teaching was positive. During the module, all teachers were full of energy and well prepared. The online teaching runs smoothly, with active interaction between teachers and students and stable teaching order.
Online teaching is a challenge both for QMES and the teachers. In order to ensure that students' learning will not be suspended, the teaching content will not be reduced, and the teaching quality will not be undermined, QMES will continue exploring new models, new strategies and new methods, advancing in exploration, adapting in practice and innovating in optimization, so as to make teaching and learning develop simultaneously and create efficient online classrooms.
In addition to the online teaching preparation, QMES also conceived the production practice for students during the closure, and worked out the undergraduate internship plan and emergency plan in advance with the joint efforts from Engineering Practice Training Center. In the first two weeks of the semester, QMES actively communicated and coordinated with Engineering Training Center to carry out practical teaching through a combination of online and offline teaching modes on the premise of satisfying the requirements of pandemic prevention and control. With desirable teaching effect as the top priority, international students were invited to participate in the practice activities together. During this internship which was conducted against the background of COVID-19, QMES made multiple plans and took various measures, which ensured the health and safety of students, contributed to completing the production internship successfully, and more importantly, proposed a new paradigm for how to carry out practical teaching during the pandemic prevention and control period.
