    Convenor for English for Science and Engineering. Alan Allman has been a Teaching Fellow for Queen Mary University of London since the summer of 2017 and teaching Academic English on the QMES Joint Programme since September 2017. Alan has worked in English Language Teaching for 15 years in a variety of countries. Alan’s academic interests include Academic Literacies, Assessment and Learning Technologies.

    Neil Anderson

    Neil joined the Queen Mary Engineering School in 2025 and teaches English for Academic Purposes to undergraduate students on our programmes. He has extensive experience working in STEM-focused universities, including King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia and Dalian University of Technology in China. Before moving into higher education, Neil worked in the petrochemical industry, which helped shape his interest in the language of science and engineering communication. He holds an MA in TESOL along with CELTA and DELTA qualifications. His professional interests include transnational education, teacher development, and the use of artificial intelligence to enhance academic learning.

    Lecturer in Language and Professional Engineering Skills modules. Eleonora Pitta has a BA in English Language Teaching and an MA in Applied Linguistics, and has over 18 years' experience in English language education, specializing in coaching students for Cambridge ESOL and IELTS exams. She has also worked as a content creator for EAP courses, updating programmes and developing materials for a variety of EAP courses.

    Convenor for PES Modules, Senior Lecturer.Ms. Faith Nightingale joined Queen Mary University of London in 2017. Prior to joining, Faith had been working in the Middle East for over 8 years, mainly doing English language teaching and developing students' professional and academic skills to help them progress in their engineering careers. Faith focuses on curriculum design, specialised English for Academic Purposes and the use of technology in the classroom.

    Leader of the Professional Engineering Skills Application Development Programme, senior lecturer. Dr Wang Li obtained her PhD in Structural Mechanics from the University of the West of England. She has spent most of her career in industry, working for a number of companies including Rolls-Royce and Unilever. In 2022, Dr Wang Li joined the School of Engineering and Materials Science at Queen Mary University of London as a Senior Lecturer, where she focuses on teaching personal development planning and engineering design related topics. Her research interests include materials research and development as well as educational technology applications.
