On January 22, 2018, the first meeting of the Examination Committee of Queen Mary University of London Engineering School, NPU was held in the conference room 349, Gongzi Building, Youyi Campus. Professor Henri Huijberts (Director of Examination Committee), Queen Mary University of London; Professor Fan Xiaoli (Deputy Director of Examination Committee), Vice Dean of QMES; Andrew Bushby, Executive Vice Dean of QMES; Professor Ge Wenjie, national famous teacher; Professor Liu Feng from Xi’an Jiaotong University (external examiner); Professor Tim Bullough and Elisabeth Wilding from Liverpool University (external examiner from UK); heads of various courses in this semester, staff of Teaching Affairs Offices in both China and the UK, and Dean Kong Jie attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Professor Henri Huijberts.
The theme of this meeting is to summarize the exam in 2017-2018 Fall Semester. The meeting started at 10:00 am. At the very beginning, Professor Henri Huijberts introduced the duties of the Examination Committee. Then Professor Fan Xiaoli introduced the examination procedure and standards of the examination papers. The committee members then reviewed the final exam papers of this semester. Each course took 5 high marks, 5 middle marks and 5 low marks as samples. Members carefully reviewed the revisions of these papers to ensure the comments and scores were accurate and fair. Then the leaders of each course reported to the committee on the answers of the students.
The committee also discussed the reasons for the score proportion and failure of the students' grades. Professor Henri Huijberts carefully asked about students who failed many courses and hoped that QMES would take special care of these students to find out reasons for their failures, and to help them catch up in the following learning procedure. In addition, absence does not exist in the final exam this semester. The meeting ended up successfully at 4:45 pm
