Super QM Chased Dreams on the Field: QMES Achieved Outstanding Results at NPU’s “Yan Yiti Cup” 21st Sports and Cultural Festival and 58th Sports Meeting.

From October 25 to 26, the 21st Sports and Cultural Festival and 58th Sports Meeting of NPU, sponsored by the “Yan Yiti Cup”, were grandly held at the Yun Tianyuan Athletics Field on the Chang’an campus. Over 200 faculty and students from QMES participated in various events, securing an impressive 7th place in the overall student team rankings. This marks QMES’s best performance in the event's history, showcasing the spirit of perseverance, dedication, and a fearless attitude towards challenges among faculty and students.

On the morning of October 25th, the sports meeting was officially opened to the stirring strains of the “March of the Athletes”. A contingent of 50 students from QMES formed an impressive athletes’ procession, marching in perfect formation with confident, determined expressions. “Super QM, surpassing the self; united we strive, the excellence we achieve!” they chanted loudly, proudly displaying the “QM” formation in front of the podium. Full of vitality and self-assurance, they are resolved to give their best on the field, working together with dedication and perseverance, to water their dreams with sweat and fight for the honour of QMES.

Youth and sunshine walked hand in hand, with passion and cheers accompanying every step. The athletes of QMES were seen everywhere, their figures a testament to hard work and determination as they gave their all. After two days of intense and thrilling competition, the young scholars of QMES achieved outstanding results.

In the athletics competition, QMES achieved remarkable results, securing 6th place in the overall team standings for athletics, 2nd place in the women’s 4x400m relay and 4th place in the women’s athletics team total score. Among the track events, Du Yuxuan claimed the championship in the women’s 400m hurdles and 4th place in the 800m; Shi Yuqing earned a bronze medal in the women’s 400m hurdles; Chang Yaxin secured 4th place in the women’s 100m hurdles; Yang Yuren finished 4th in the women’s 3000m; Xu Rui took 5th place in the women’s 1500m; Wang Zihuan placed 7th in the women’s 100m; Wang Zhuoyu was 7th in the women’s 400m; Fang Shuo finished 7th in the men’s 200m; and Yan Peihua placed 8th in the men’s 3000m. In the field events, Zhang Zihan won the silver medal in the women’s long jump, Shi Yuqing took 8th place in the women’s high jump, and Wang Haochen finished 7th in the men’s shot put.

In the ball sports competition, QMES’ tennis team achieved a remarkable 4th place in the team standings. Cong Shangzhe won the mixed doubles championship and finished 5th in the men's singles. Qiang Zhuang and Luo Huisheng claimed 4th place in the men’s doubles, while Zhang Yaoheng secured 6th place in the same event. Chen Hui finished 8th in the women’s singles. Additionally, QMES earned 3rd place in basketball, 5th in rugby, 7th in football, and 8th in women’s volleyball.

The QMES Aerobics Team showcased their passion, professionalism, and exceptional technique, delivering a dynamic performance filled with graceful movements. Their display not only highlighted their technical skills but also emphasised the spirit of teamwork and collaboration that defines QMES students. With their youthful energy and vibrant performance, they received unanimous praise from both the audience and the judges. After a tense and competitive contest, the team secured an impressive 5th place in the overall rankings.

In the swimming events, the QMES swimming team secured 8th place in the mixed-gender 4x50m relay. Zhang Mochun earned 3rd place in the men’s breaststroke, while Sun Lan finished 7th in the women’s breaststroke.

In the rope skipping competition, QMES achieved outstanding results, claiming 3rd place in the team relay, 3rd in the 8-figure skipping, and 3rd in the 10-person long rope event. Additionally, the team finished 4th in the 50-person individual speed rope competition.

In the faculty competition, Song Jiayin represented QMES and triumphed in the women’s standing long jump, claiming the championship. Wang Ruixuan secured the silver medal in the women’s shot put. Meanwhile, Dai Fuping, Party Secretary of QMES, and Wu Ajing, Chairman of the Labour Union, led QMES faculty and staff in actively participating in the Fun Sports Meeting. The team achieved excellent results, winning 1st place in both the dry-land dragon boat race and the relay ping-pong ball race.

This sports event was not just a competition, but a platform for self-expression and personal growth. The athletes of QMES demonstrated unity, collaboration, and determination, gaining not only friendship but also valuable experience. Through their sweat and hard work, they have left their unique mark of youth, while also infusing the campus culture with new vitality. With renewed enthusiasm and heightened determination, all faculty and students of QMES are now ready to dedicate themselves to their studies and work, continuing to write a new and glorious chapter in the development of the institution.
