Project Defense of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program for College Students Organized by Engineering School of QMUL

According to arrangement of Teaching Affairs Office of NPU and the teaching plans of QMES, after full preparation in the early stage, the project defense of 2020 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program for undergraduates of Engineering School of QMUL was successfully held online at 14:00 on June 10.

A total of 67 innovative training projects participated in the project defense, which were divided into four groups and conduct simultaneously.Professor Gu Junwei, Professor Hu Rui, Professor Yan Yi, Professor Zheng Yaping, Professor Yan Hongxia, Professor Gao Feng, Professor Li Zhen, Professor Yu Tao and Teacher Shi Xuetao, Liu Jianxi, Zhuang Qiang and Gao Pengfei from School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, and the Institute of Flexible Electronics were invited by QMES to serve as judges for the defense. Teacher Feng Weixu, Cao Yueling, Han Xiao and Zong Meng were invited to serve as secretary of the defense. Vice Dean Fan Xiaoli attended the defense.

The project defense was divided into two parts: reports by project leaders and questions from the judges.The project leaders make statement and defense on the purpose, significance, research content, key problems need to be solved, implementation plan, expected results and funding plan of the project. The judges proposed modification suggestions and gave detailed guidance for each project in terms of its feasibility, innovation and practicability as well as the standardization of the project application.

Although the sudden outbreak of COVID-19 had brought many inconveniences to students’ life and study, they were still enthusiastic about participating in innovation and entrepreneurship activities. Before the notice of the project was issued, students kept consulting teachers about relevant issues, and made a lot of preparations in advance, such as building teams, contacting tutors and writing applications. On April 18th, QMES also organized the policy publicity and experience sharing activities of the project, which fully aroused the enthusiasm of students to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship activities. This project defense has not only improved the application quality of innovation and entrepreneurship training program for undergraduates, laid a good foundation for the smooth development of these projects, but also is an important link to improve the comprehensive quality of college students, cultivate their innovation and entrepreneurship awareness, enhance their innovation and entrepreneurship ability, and cultivate high-level innovative talents that can meet the needs of the construction of an innovative country.
