On the evening of April 7th, QMES invited Stella Job, an alumna of the University of Oxford’s Department of Engineering, founder of Grazebrook Innovation, and an expert in advanced materials and sustainability, to provide professional feedback and guidance to student innovation teams. Fan Xiaoli, Dean of QMES, attended the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Workshop. The event was chaired by Cheng Yin, Vice Dean of QMES.

Firstly, four student project teams from QMES presented and showcased their innovative projects, which covered areas such as novel battery materials, green energy, and intelligent equipment. Drawing on her extensive experience in technological innovation and commercial transformation, Stella Job provided precise guidance on various aspects, including technical feasibility, market positioning, and business models. She encouraged the students to adopt a problem-oriented approach, grounding their work in practical experience and driven by market demand, while seeking innovative breakthroughs in interdisciplinary fields.

Fan Xiaoli provided advice and suggestions to the students on areas such as technological research and development and academic collaboration. She emphasised that innovation not only requires breaking through technological boundaries, but also urged the students to pay attention to the international forefront of their research fields, current societal needs, and future development directions.

During the interactive Q&A session, the students engaged in in-depth discussions with the guests on topics such as project optimisation and resource integration. The atmosphere of the on-site exchange was lively and dynamic.

This workshop is one of the key initiatives by QMES to deepen its innovation and entrepreneurship education. QMES is committed to continuously fostering students’ innovative thinking and enhancing their practical innovation capabilities by integrating international educational resources. In the future, QMES will continue to organise a series of innovation-driven exchange activities, providing students with more opportunities for international collaboration and learning. The aim is to nurture a greater number of top-tier innovative talents with a global perspective.
