On December 21, Fan Xiaoli, Dean of QMES, gave an ideological and political course entitled "Viewing Unity and Struggle from the Materials Microworld" to the representatives of teachers and students of the school, so as to apply the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress into the ideological and political course of universities and build a high-level talent cultivation system. Focusing on the key words -- "unity and struggle", the ideological and political course vividly introduced the importance of unity and struggle to students from three aspects, namely, the report of the 20th CPC National Congress, major historical events and materials microworld. Finally, the ideological and political course concluded with the Mao Zedong’s speech — "On the Ten Major Relationships", advocating that the students should take advantage of all positive forces to strive for building our country into a strong socialist one.

Considering the current difficulties of COVID-19, Dean Fan hoped that all students could carry forward the spirit of unity and struggle and work together to overcome the difficulties. At the same time, she asked the students to think deeply in the process of teamwork and effectively mobilize the enthusiasm of each member. She also hoped that students could learn from each other and give full play to the role of unity and struggle.

The ideological and political course is a vivid practice of QMES to focus on the construction of course ideology and politics and to integrate value shaping, knowledge transmission and ability cultivation. QMES will develop the course ideology and politics by sticking to the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress with high quality, explore and innovate new ideas and methods of the school's ideological and political education, create a new educational pattern of Three-Wide Education, incorporate Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into the curriculum and make it a way of thinking, constantly strengthen the political, ideological and emotional identity of teachers and students, and nurture a number of young people in the new era who are able to take on the great task of national rejuvenation.
