This semester, QMES has set up an elective course “Wine Culture and Art Appreciation”. The teachers of the course include Guo Anque, Dong Shumeng and other teachers from the College of Enology of Northwest A&F University. The course aims to help college students understand wine culture, learn the important role of wine culture in social etiquette, and broaden students’ horizon.
In class, the teachers introduced the knowledge of the history, culture, production area, variety, the production process and tasting methods of different wines. They also brought several selected wines for students to taste, so as to help students deeply understand the characteristics of the taste, smell and color of different wines, which made students feel the educational charm of the combination of Chinese and Western excellent culture.
Teachers Alan and Agne from QMUL also actively participated in the wine appreciation course. They shared their understanding and tasting methods of wine based on their own experience, so that students could understand and appreciate wine art and culture from different perspectives. The discussion and exchange not only broke the cultural and language barriers of different countries, but also helped students broaden their international vision, increase their knowledge, and promote the communication and exchange between foreign teachers and students.
Students highly appreciated the practicality and delight of the course, and said that after participating in the course, they had a deeper understanding of wine culture, the wine industry and wine tasting, and hoped that more courses on cultural experience could be offered.
QMES will continue to focus on the “student-centered” philosophy, respect the individualized development of students, offer students more general courses with a wider range, continuously promote the reform of education and teaching of QMES, so as to promote the improvement of students’ comprehensive quality, and cultivate socialist builders and successors with an all-round moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic grounding, in addition to a hard-working spirit.
