On February 27th, the work seminar for the spring semester of the 2022-2023 academic year of QMES was held in Conference Room 413, East Teaching Building A, Chang’an Campus. Fan Xiaoli, Dean of QMES; Dai Fuping, Secretary of the QMES Party Committee; Cheng Yin, Vice Dean of QMES; Zhou Yongcun, Assistant to the Dean of QMES; and some faculty representatives attended the meeting, which was presided over by Fan Xiaoli.
At the meeting, the directors in charge of each department of the school reported the theory-discussing meetings during the winter vacation, the understanding of their duties and the deployment and arrangement of the key work of each department in the new semester. Opening up their minds and speaking out freely, the participants had in-depth discussions and exchanges on the work of teaching, student management, Party and Youth League construction, production safety, cultural environment construction and other works in this semester.
Fan Xiaoli made specific arrangements for the teaching organization, classroom teaching, student development, and undergraduate teaching evaluation to be faced this year, and put forward four requirements. The first is to strengthen the construction of staff spirit, improve professional quality and work standards, broaden faculties’ vision, and focus on the key works and the highlights. Second, QMES should provide farsighted guidance for students, make sensible plans based on the goals and characteristics of talent cultivation, beef up cooperation among various offices, adopt big-picture thinking, shoulder responsibilities conscientiously and implement all tasks and plans with effort. The third is to do a good job in helping students with difficulties. All the faculty and staff of the school should care about students, especially students with academic difficulties, understand their confusions, analyze the root cause and guide them to solve problems. Fourthly, all the faculty and staff should promote learning ability, continuously improve the level of management and coordination, develop the core competitiveness of individuals and teams, and jointly promote the development of the school.
Dai Fuping proposed that all faculty and staff should adhere to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, carefully study the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, make a good performance in the construction of ideological and political classes, and take the pragmatic route. All departments should strive to work with the goal of building a first-class university, enhance the awareness of danger and bottom-line thinking, form the characteristic team cohesion and core competitiveness. Besides, it is also necessary to improve work standards and broaden work views, so as to play the leading role in cultivating high-quality international talents.
The meeting stressed that under the leadership and arrangement of NPU, QMES will keep up with the trend of international governance of higher education, make full use of the quality education resources of the two universities, arrange high-level educational cooperation, adhere to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, pay attention to the effectiveness of talent training with higher standards and more stringent requirements, and promote the construction of “double first-class” university.
