Recently, the grand final of the Shaanxi region of the 2nd National College Student Career Planning Competition successfully concluded. Liu Yuxin, a 2022 undergraduate student from QMES, stood out in the employment track and was awarded the Gold Medal. This marks the first time a QMES student has claimed the top honour in this prestigious competition.

The theme of this competition was “Building Dreams with Youthful Ambition, Career Planning Sets Sail Towards the Future”. Since its launch in October 2024, the competition has received a positive response and widespread participation from universities across the province, with a total of 426,400 students registered and 94 universities involved. After intense competition in the preliminary rounds at the faculty, university, and provincial levels, 50 candidates were selected for the final round of the employment track. Liu Yuxin, a student from QMES, stood out on the stage with solid professional knowledge, a confident presentation style, and impressive questioning and answering skills, showcasing the excellence of QMES students. On one hand, this reflects QMES’s emphasis on and commitment to the comprehensive development of its students; on the other hand, it highlights the effectiveness of QMES’s employment skills training and practical education, while also fostering a strong career planning atmosphere throughout the entire college.

Personal Introduction: Liu Yuxin, a probationary member of the Communist Party of China, is majoring in Materials Science and Engineering at QMES. With a GPA ranked first in her major, she has been awarded the National Scholarship for two consecutive years. In 2024, she was honoured as an Outstanding University Student Model at Northwestern Polytechnical University. Liu has also won four national-level Gold Awards in the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition, as well as a Provincial Gold Award in the University Student Career Planning Competition, among other accolades.

For a long time, the QMES Party Committee has placed great emphasis on student career development and employment guidance, continuously offering support in areas such as career planning, study abroad, further education, and employment advice. The committee has also explored and innovated a comprehensive career guidance system throughout the undergraduate programme, actively expanding students’ international perspectives and enhancing their professional competitiveness and entrepreneurial capabilities. Moving forward, QMES will continue to strengthen career planning guidance through various initiatives, facilitate talent alignment between universities and enterprises, and help students enhance their awareness of career planning and improve their employment competitiveness.
