From July 13 to 14, 2022, the social practice team of QMES, Xingxin Qingqi Team conducted social practice in Guangdong Province so as to deeply understand the working environment and recruitment requirements of enterprises, further explore the current employment status of college students and professional development prospect, make students correctly understand the current social employment situation and improve their self-competitiveness. The team held a symposium with Guangzhou Hongyu Technology Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Xintao New Material Technology Co., Ltd., and visited the production workshop of Guangzhou Hongyu Technology Co., Ltd. At the same time, the social practice team of QMES took part in the employment development symposium with the team of the College of Chemistry and Materials Science of Jinan University and the team of the School of Electric Power Engineering of South China University of Technology to further discuss the employment prospects of college students and the requirements of enterprises for talent capabilities.

Guangzhou Hongyu Technology Co., Ltd. is a high-tech enterprise in the field of mobile communication integrating technology research, product development, system solution provision, system integration, equipment manufacturing and service. The practice team of QMES visited the exhibition hall of Hongyu Technology Co., Ltd. and learned the basic information of the company.

Leaders and employees of the Human Resources Department of Guangzhou Hongyu Technology Co., Ltd. and members of the practice team of QMES discussed the current situation and prospects of college students’ employment in thesymposium. Director Fu of the company said that although college students were currently facing great employment pressure, there were still talent gaps in related fields of various industries. He used iceberg model to explain the relationship between academic qualifications, professional ability, morality and values, and encouraged students to focus on their studies, work hard, strengthen exercise, be down-to-earth, and keep moving towards their goals.

Finally, the team entered the factory of Hongyu Technology Co., Ltd. to visit and study. The division of labor in the company’s workshop is clear, including three production modes: manual production, semi-automatic robots production, and simulated artificial machines production. The internal management is well-organized. During the visit, the practice team further learned about the production methods of the company, which broadened their horizons.

Online discussion about the goal of high-level development
In response to the epidemic prevention policy, the team and Guangdong Xintao New Material Technology Co., Ltd. discussed employment-related issues in the onlinesymposium. Liang Tao, director and vice president of operations of the company, and Zhang Jingli, executive vice president of the company took part in the discussion.

Liang Tao gave guidance to the team members on the qualities and skills that college students should have for employment. He said that what an excellent and successful college student needed most was the good attitude. At the same time, he expressed that college students also needed to have the adaptability, learning ability and professional ability to engage in the job. In addition, a positive mental outlook is very important for career planning. He encouraged students to establish correct career ideals, make plans for their university life according to their goals, and continuously accumulate experience to lay a solid foundation for their future careers.

Finally, based on his own study experience and work experience, he sincerely provided some suggestions to students, hoping that the team members would be brave and decisive, work hard and achieve something. In order to understand the employment concept of contemporary college students and promote exchanges and linkages between schools and colleges, the practice team held a symposium on student employment development online. Nine student representatives fromthe College of Chemistry and Materials Science of Jinan University and the School of Electric Power Engineering of South China University of Technology attended the meeting.
First, Li Ziqian, leader of the practice team of QMES, introduced the overall situation of NPU. Taking the history of NPU as the starting point, she explained the school motto of NPU, “Loyalty, Integrity, Courage and Perseverance” and the school spirit of NPU, “Strong Preparation, Diligent Effort, Practical Attitude and Creative Innovation” in detail, and briefly shared the employment-related information of material majors of NPU.

Afterwards, Tao Mujia introduced the characteristics, advantages, training objectives as well as development direction of the graduates of QMES, which showed the demeanor of students of QMES.

Next, Ye Yuanming gave a report on the results of the employment survey of the practice team. The survey focused on the employment of college students. The investigation of the survey was conducted from five aspects, including factors affecting employment, employment direction selection, employment situation and changes, employer evaluation, and employment outlook.

In the fourth item of the meeting, Li Ruihan introduced the basic information of the College of Chemistry and Materials Science of Jinan University. She first introduced the majors and discipline platforms of the college. Next, she introduced the employment platform, corporate internships, career planning activities, employment forums and other related information for students of the college in the past five years.
In the fifth item of the meeting, Fan Weijie introduced the employment situation of South China University of Technology. Combined the annual employment quality report of South China University of Technology, he analyzed the employment rate, employment destination, job satisfaction, employer satisfaction and other topics of concern for graduates of South China University of Technology in 2021.

Later, Li Kunze summarized the requirements of enterprises for talents and development trends. Through the content of the symposium between the practice team and enterprises, he analyzed the basic qualities that college students should have for employment, and combined the current employment situation, he discussed how college students could cultivate their own professional quality, highlight their advantages in the competition, and effectively improve their employment ability and provide constructive suggestions for students.
Summary and reflection
The practice team of QMES visited enterprises on the spot, collected relevant employment information, saw the employment situation in different regions and different majors, and gained advice from senior experts in the industry. The team members expressed that they would seize the opportunities to exercise themselves during the university. They believe through their continuous efforts, they will improve their career planning ability, self-development ability, learning ability, professional skills, self-management ability to improve their employment ability, achieve full employment and promote the overall progress of society.
