Recently, President Wang Jingsong led a delegation to visit four universities in the Netherlands, Spain and Great Britain respectively.
During the visit, a total of 7 inter-school cooperation agreements were signed, concerning the establishment of the joint-laboratory, co-cultivation of doctoral students, and international scientific research cooperation. Two professors were appointed as advisory professor and chair professor of NPU respectively. What’s more, President Wang was awarded honorary professor of QMUL( Queen Mary University of London), and 6 professors from NPU were employed as the guest professors of QMUL.
On December 6th, when visiting the University of Groningen Netherlands, President Wang met President Poppema of the University of Groningen and signed a cooperation framework agreement. President Wang also visited the relevant laboratory of Faculty of Science and Engineering and held a discussion with the Dean of the Faculty and the deputy Dean of the Faculty who is in charge of graduate students. From December 7th to 8th, when visiting University of Twente, President Wang discussed about deepening their cooperation with Professor Thom Palstra, the president of the university. And the two sides signed agreements on the establishment of “Joint Nano Fluid and Interface Laboratory”, and the co-cultivation of PhD students.
From December 9th to 11th, when visiting Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (also known as the Technical University of Madrid ), President Wang talked with Prof. Cisneros, President of the university, about deepening their cooperation. Afterwards,they renewed the cooperation framework memorandum and signed the agreements concerning the seed fund for scientific research cooperation, innovation, and starting a business.
From December 12th to 13th, when visiting QMUL, President Wang held in-depth talk with Prof. Bailey, President of QMUL about deepening their cooperation and signed a memorandum on the co-cultivation of PHD students. In addition, an appointment ceremony was held for President Wang’s honorary professor of QMUL. In the end the two sides assessed the preliminary work and future development planning for establishing a joint research institute on advanced materials and structures, and discussed the issues like joint application for a scientific research project and the co-training of PHD students.
