Students of QMES Attended the Global Student Leadership Forum at Glasgow College of UESTC

On May 6th, The Eighth Global Student Leadership Forum hosted by Glasgow College, UESTC was held at Qingshuihe Campus of UESTC. Wang Ruixuan, from the Student Affairs Office of QMES organized Xu Weihang, Wang Weijia and Li Fengyuan from the class of 2020, Wang Yiruo and Shi Lingzi from the class of 2021, Chen Xinyan from the class of 2022 and other students to attend the exchange meeting.

There were more than 50 representatives of teachers and students from 11 Sino-foreign cooperative schools joined the Leadership Forum. Kuang Weilin, former Head of the Mission of the People's Republic of China to the African Union and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary; Di Aiying, Secretary of the Party Committee of Glasgow College of UESTC; Zhu Ce, Dean of Glasgow College; David Young, Executive Dean of the School; Li Ye, Deputy Secretary of the QMES Party Committee and teachers from various universities attended the launching ceremony.

At the launching ceremony, Zhu Ce, on behalf of Glasgow College, extended a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the teachers, students and invited guests. He said that in this globalized world, young people should work together to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Ambassador Kuang Weilin delivered a keynote speech on his years of diplomatic work experience and introduced in detail his overseas work experience and highlights of China's diplomacy. Xu Zihan shared his rich internship experience in international organizations and called on the students to actively use various resources to participate in the internship in international organizations, so as to enhance the contribution of Chinese youth in international affairs, and spread the voice of China to the world and tell China stories well.

After the launching ceremony, the student representatives were divided into two groups to carry out heated discussions. The representatives of QMES, Xu Weihang, Wang Weijia and Li Fengyuan, won warm applause and unanimous recognition for their rigorous logic, unique insights and wonderful speeches. From four perspectives of facing the complex and changing international situation, paying attention to national current affairs, keeping up with the trend of international cutting-edge technology, and cultivating the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurial thinking, they explained how the contemporary youth contribute their power to the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

The theme of the forum is "How do College Students Contribute their Youth to the Building of a Community With a Shared Future for Mankind". It will further strengthen the communication and cooperation between universities at home and abroad, and better establish an exchange platform between students at home and abroad. Against the background of globalization, it is of great significance to cultivate future youth with international vision and competitiveness, cross-cultural communication ability, scientific decision-making ability and a high sense of social responsibility, and to unite the youth of the times to shoulder the historical responsibility actively and build a sustainable future world. The participants said that they benefited a lot from this activity which not only improved their ability, but also presented them with friendship. In the future, they will apply the experience gained from the forum to their own growth, and truly devote their youth to the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
