To clarify the objectives of student work for the new semester, enhance the level of student education and management, and ensure the orderly implementation of various student work in the new semester, QMES held the student affairs meeting for the spring semester of the 2023-2024 academic year on the morning of March 8th. Dai Fuping, Secretary of the Party Committee of the QMES, Cheng Yin, Vice Party Secretary, Wang Yongxin, Vice Dean, Huang Quanzhang, Director of the Student Affairs Office, Yang Ye, Director of the Teaching Office, as well as all staff members of the Student Affairs Office and the Teaching Office, and part-time and full-time counselors, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Cheng Yin.

At the meeting, Cheng Yin conveyed the main spirit of the regular meeting of the Student Affairs Department, deployed the key tasks of the college in employment and further studies, graduate entrance examination interviews, targeted student assistance, innovation and entrepreneurship, dormitory safety, campus cultural activities, and other aspects for the new semester. Clear requirements were also put forward for strengthening safety and stability work in the near future. Furthermore, there was a further emphasis on the standardized use of the student management big data system. Cheng Yin hoped that all student affairs cadres would take the goals and tasks as guidance, clarify their work ideas, and strive for breakthroughs in student work in the new semester.

Wang Yongxin introduced the various assessment indicators for undergraduate talent cultivation in the school, emphasizing that the staff of the Teaching Affairs Office and the Student Affairs Office should cooperate closely and solidly carry out various tasks, making joint efforts to contribute to the improvement of the quality of talent cultivation in the college.

Huang Quanzhang analyzed the key work of graduation grade in combination with the postgraduate entrance examination situation and academic achievements of grade 2020 students. He pointed out that, on the one hand, the school should actively mobilize various resources to provide guidance for students aiming to take the postgraduate entrance examination and those seeking to transfer, aiming to improve the rate of admission through the interview process. On the other hand, efforts should be made to deeply understand the ideological dynamics of students facing graduation difficulties and to carry out targeted academic assistance accordingly.

Liu Jia, a counselor of grade 2023, and Meng Lei, a counselor of Grade 2022, respectively gave brief reports on the daily affairs management, academic situation analysis, innovation and entrepreneurship education, and career planning conducted for each grade, as well as the existing issues.

Bijia Long elaborated on the work priorities of the Student International Development Center for this semester, expressing the intention to continue advancing various initiatives such as study abroad consultations, small-group discussions, overseas internships, and practical experiences. Through multiple measures, QMES aimed to actively broaden students’ international perspectives, enhance their global competence, and strive to improve the employment and further education rates of graduates.

In the end, Dai Fuping delivered concluding remarks. He pointed out that the assessment task of the school’s target responsibility system is an important part of achieving the “127” goals. All members of the student affairs team should unite, adhere to the original aspiration of education, face the difficulties encountered in the student training process squarely, analyze and solve problems in a scientific and reasonable manner, strengthen personal work literacy, and pay attention to the growth and success of each student.

The meeting further clarified the key tasks of student affairs in the new semester, providing everyone with a clearer understanding of the work objectives. All comrades will adhere to the goal-oriented approach, focus on key tasks, make precise efforts, and solidly promote the improvement and efficiency of student affairs work.
