On the afternoon of March 16th, in Room 102 of East Teaching Building B, the Fourth Party Branch of Teachers and Students of QMES held a party activity with the theme “Guided by Role Models, Embracing the Spring Together” aimed at enhancing the academic atmosphere, fostering a conducive learning environment, and leveraging peer support to assist first-year students in establishing lofty goals and planning their development path rationally. This event featured a presentation by Yang Shuhao, a student from the Second Party Branch of Teachers and Students of QMES, who shared insights into the characteristics and study methods of major courses for this semester. Zhang Xicheng and Jiang Zixin, Deputy Secretaries of the Fourth Party Branch of Teachers and Students of QMES, actively participated in the exchange and interaction, offering guidance and clarification to their fellows. Ma Yige, an undergraduate student from the Cohort of 2023, chaired the activity.
Yang Shuhao, drawing from personal experience, provided a systematic introduction to study methods for courses like Engineering Chemistry and conducted a detailed analysis of key and challenging points. He emphasised that the most crucial aspect of learning is the systematic understanding of knowledge, ensuring a thorough grasp of every detail and integrating various points to form one’s comprehension. This, he highlighted, is essential for comprehensive improvement and development. With meticulous explanations, Yang Shuhao not only strengthened students’ understanding of the subject matter but also instilled a sense of anticipation for their future academic learning and life.
Furthermore, Jiang Zixin, who has been admitted to graduate school, encouraged his fellows to plan their university years wisely. He shared his own experiences and accomplishments within the diverse and innovative talent cultivation model of QMES. Jiang also outlined the QMES’s policies, procedures, and material preparation regarding postgraduate recommendations, graduate entrance examinations, and overseas studying. Addressing common challenges faced by freshmen in their academic and personal lives, he provided practical advice and suggestions, guiding students to clarify their academic and career paths further.
Subsequently, Jiang Zixin and Zhang Xicheng made interactive exchanges for the problems raised by the students and introduced practical learning methods, improving students’ understanding of university study life, helping students to firmly believe in their ideals and enhancing their learning motivation.
Finally, Zhang Xicheng, Deputy Secretaries of the Fourth Party Branch of Teachers and Students of QMES, summed up the Party Day activities, encouraging students with personal experience to be active, and strive forward on the road of life, not to live up to their potential.
The successful implementation of this Party Day activity gives full play to the role of the party branch as a fighting fortress and effectively helps freshmen students to do well in their academic planning through the demonstration and leadership of outstanding seniors. At the same time, by building a favourable atmosphere of peer support in QMES, it injected a strong endogenous impetus for QMES’s high-quality talent cultivation and the construction of an excellent academic style.
