On the evening of August 27, QMES held the 2024 “Reflections on Growth After Summer Practice” social practice exchange and sharing session. Cheng Yin, Deputy Secretary of the QMES Party Committee and Vice Dean, Yang Fenping, Secretary of the QMES Youth League Committee, and members of various practice teams attended the meeting. Yang Fenping chaired the session.
At the sharing session, leaders of each practice team discussed their preparations and planning before the social practice, their experiences and observations during the training, their reflections and summaries afterwards, and techniques and methods for applying theoretical knowledge to practical situations.
The “Spreading the Voice of NPU and Cultivating Unity Together” social practice team shared their observations and reflections from their fieldwork in Kunming, Xinping Yi and Dai Autonomous County, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, and Urumqi in Xinjiang. They conducted in-depth research in rural areas, explored local distinctive industries, and gained insights into ethnic cultures through firsthand experiences with traditional clothing, cuisine, and architecture. The team also engaged in outreach and research activities within ethnic communities, businesses, and schools. They aimed to strengthen the sense of the Chinese national community through their youthful efforts and promote Chinese modernization by fostering the great unity of the Chinese nation.
The “Colourful Future Stars & Sunshine Dream Journey” summer social practice team shared their reflections on their rural educational outreach. The team visited Sun Gu Village Primary School in Huyi District and Dong Da Village Kindergarten in Chang’an District, where they carried out activities focused on aesthetic education. Through their professional knowledge and enthusiasm, the team introduced children to the allure of traditional Chinese opera with hands-on workshops, including painting folding fans, creating opera masks, and teaching with water sleeves. These activities nurtured the children’s aesthetic appreciation and artistic creativity. Additionally, incorporating NPU’s characteristics, the team used paper aeroplane competitions and drone experiences to make abstract scientific principles engaging and practical, igniting the children’s strong interest in aviation, aerospace, and maritime.
In her concluding remarks, Cheng Yin highlighted that the student teams not only demonstrated their professional competence during the social practice but also reflected the social responsibility and innovative spirit of NPU students. Through close collaboration, they not only accomplished their set tasks but also enhanced their communication, coordination skills, and team cohesion, improving their overall capabilities. Cheng encouraged students to convert their experiences from this practice into motivation for future progress and to continue playing an active role in academic exploration and social service.
