QMES Administrative Training Workshop IV-- Cybersecurity Training

Date:2025-10-02 ClickTimes: Author:

To thoroughly implement the guiding principles of the 2025 China Cybersecurity Week — "Cybersecurity for the People, Cybersecurity by the People" — and to further strengthen the cybersecurity awareness and protective capabilities of all staff and students, QMES held the fourth session of the QMES Administrative Training Workshop on the morning of 26 September at Lecture Hall A410, East Teaching Building, Chang'an Campus. The workshop focused on cybersecurity training and featured Xiang Yuanming, Operations Supervisor, Cybersecurity and Information Office, Office of Information Management, NPU, as the keynote speaker. Faculty and administrative staff from various offices and centres attended the session. The event was chaired by Dai Fuping, Secretary of the QMES Party Committee.

During the session, Xiang Yuanming delivered a presentation entitled Building Digital Dreams Together: A New Chapter in Campus Cybersecurity. He systematically analysed the concept, current status, and response strategies of cybersecurity from three perspectives: what it is, why it matters, and how to address it. Drawing on the current domestic and international cybersecurity landscape, he provided an in-depth analysis of the various cyber threats faced by the universities, including phishing emails, ransomware and APT attacks, and illustrated key preventative measures through real-life case studies. He also provided a detailed overview of NPU's achievements in cybersecurity, including the development of organisational frameworks, implementation of technical security measures, adoption of a password management system, and rollout of two-factor authentication, offering faculty and staff a comprehensive understanding of the university's investments and progress in this field.

Subsequently, Xiang Yuanming offered practical guidance on handling common cybersecurity incidents encountered in daily work, including account breaches, malware intrusions, and data security issues. He emphasised that "endpoint security is both the first and last line of defence" and reminded staff to follow safe online practices.

Dai Fuping emphasised that cybersecurity is the cornerstone of digital development and that every member of staff should act as both a participant in and a guardian of campus cybersecurity. He called on attendees to take this training as an opportunity to translate the knowledge gained into practical actions, working together to foster a safe, stable, and secure online environment on campus.

The training is not only to enhance staff members' understanding of cybersecurity but also to provide practical guidance for identifying risks and responding to incidents in daily work. QMES will continue to implement the four principles in its cybersecurity efforts, further promote cybersecurity awareness and education, refine management systems, and strengthen the campus cybersecurity defences. By leveraging robust security to guide high-quality development, QMES aims to support NPU's "1-10-100-1000" objectives for its 15th Five-Year Plan and to realise its ambitious vision of "A World-Class University, A Global Leader in Aeronautics, Astronautics, and Marine Engineering".
