To strengthen student organisation development and enhance inter-school collaboration, the Student Unions of Queen Mary University of London Engineering School (QMES), NPU, and ‌Sichuan University - Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) held an online exchange meeting on the evening of 26 October, 2025. The meeting was themed “Setting Out Together: Exchange and Mutual Learning”. It was chaired by Che Xuanming, Executive President of the QMES Student Union, and attended by representatives from the Student Unions of both schools.

To begin with, Che Xuanming introduced the organisational structure, departmental responsibilities, internal development and future plans of the QMES Student Union. He placed particular emphasis on the Union’s “Three-All” service system, along with initiatives and their outcomes in serving the wider body of staff and students.

Subsequently, Shi Jiayu, Executive President of the SCUPI Student Union, presented the Union’s departmental structure, division of responsibilities, and internal development. He highlighted three signature events: the Freshmen’s Carnival, the New Year Fair, and the Student Innovation Forum. This offered valuable insights and ideas for advancing innovative practice at QMES.

Finally, members from both Student Unions engaged in an interactive exchange. They held an in-depth discussion and exchanged experiences on the practical details of their routine work, the challenges encountered in organising activities and the corresponding solutions, as well as effective approaches to serving students.

This exchange event strengthened the interaction between the two student organisations and provided a valuable platform for sharing innovative practices and learning from successful activity planning models. Looking ahead, the two schools will take this collaboration as a new starting point to jointly explore new approaches to student development within the context of Chinese-foreign cooperative education in the new era. The QMES Student Union will continue to align its work with practical needs. By refining its operational mechanisms and innovating activity formats, it will strive to translate these valuable experiences into tangible measures that better serve staff and students.
