The new era calls for commitment from the young, and this is a time for them to strive forward. On 13 November, QMES held the First Plenary Meeting of the Fifth Student Union for the 2025-2026 academic year. The meeting was attended by Yang Fenping, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of QMES, together with all members and volunteers of the Student Union. The session was chaired by Liu Yuluan, a member of the Student Union Presidium.
At the start of the meeting, all attendees stood in solemn respect as the National Anthem was played and sung. The stirring melody reflected their shared respect for the country and their aspirations for the future.

The Presidium of the QMES Student Union, along with the Office, the New Media Communication Centre, the Rights and Services Centre, the Learning and Practice Centre, and the Arts and Sports Activities Centre, presented their annual reports and took questions in turn. The Standing Representative Committee reviewed and supervised the presentations. Heads of each department presented reports covering three areas: departmental work summaries, achievements, and future plans. They provided a detailed review and drew lessons from the experiences and strategies of previous terms. The department heads emphasised that, in the coming year, they will continue to strengthen team building across the Student Union, improve operational efficiency, pursue innovation and breakthroughs, and consistently foster a more cohesive and committed service-oriented organisation.

Xu Yang, a member of the Student Union Presidium, announced the Notice on the Appointment of Yang Fenping as Secretary-General of the QMES Student Union and formally presented the appointment certificate.

Yang Fenping then issued certificates of appointment to the staff members of the fifth Student Union.

In her concluding speech, Yang Fenping expressed full recognition and gratitude for the Student Union’s hard work and achievements, and warmly welcomed the newly joined volunteers. She encouraged all members to further strengthen their sense of service and teamwork, to foster a Student Union that is more effective, cohesive, and proactive, and to work together in contributing to QMES’s development and growth.

“Remain true to our original aspirations and founding mission, and strive forward to create a better future.” Through this meeting, the newly elected QMES Student Union will unite its members and act with perseverance, break new ground while honouring tradition, and grow through practical work. It is committed to serving and guiding fellow students, and encouraging them to live up to the expectations of the times and make the most of their youth with concrete action.
