To further review the experience of classroom assistants’ work, commend outstanding performance, and strengthen the sense of belonging and achievement within the CA team, QMES held its Classroom Assistant Recognition Ceremony for the 2025-2026 academic year at midday on 12 June. The event aimed to express gratitude for the classroom assistants’ hard work over the past academic year and to recognise their important role in enhancing teaching quality and ensuring the smooth delivery of QMUL taught modules.

The ceremony was chaired by Director of Education Faith Nightingale, and attended by Lecturer Alan Allman and staff from the QM administrative office. As the lead for education affairs on the QMUL side, Faith has consistently supported the development of the classroom assistant team, and the ceremony served as formal recognition and an expression of gratitude for the team’s dedication throughout the past academic year.
At the ceremony, Faith Nightingale delivered the opening address. She noted that classroom assistants are an integral part of QMES’s teaching provision delivered by QMUL. Whether providing in-class support, offering academic assistance outside the classroom, delivering technical support or facilitating communication between staff and students, they have consistently demonstrated professionalism, commitment and a strong sense of responsibility. She noted that their contribution helps to ensure the smooth delivery of teaching, strengthens engagement between staff and students, and supports the high-quality delivery of QMUL taught modules within QMES’s cross-cultural learning environment. On behalf of all the teaching staff delivering the QMUL taught modules, she extended her sincere appreciation to all classroom assistants.
Faith then presented certificates to the award-winning classroom assistants. A total of 15 Classroom Assistant Awards were presented, along with four special awards:

∙ Classroom Assistant of the Year Award: Mahnoor Shahzad
∙ Best Newcomer Classroom Assistant Award: Murtaza Khan
∙ Outstanding Laboratory Assistant Award: Faiza Shahzadi
∙ Dedicated Service Excellence Award: Adeline Nishimwe
Following the awards presentation, Alan Allman expressed his appreciation to the classroom assistant who will soon be leaving his role. Over five years of service, classroom assistants have provided steadfast support to QMES’s UK teaching staff through their consistent commitment.
