On the afternoon of 9 April, QMES held its 25th Student Voice Committee (SVC) meeting. The meeting aimed to strengthen communication between staff and students, and to work collaboratively to help address the challenges students encounter in both their academic studies and daily life.

Cheng Yin, Deputy Secretary of the QMES Party Committee and Chair of SVC; Li Wang, Co-Chair of SVC; Xinru Deng, Associate Director of Academic Affairs; faculty representatives Liu Kejia and Hong Jincheng; and student representatives from all 4 years attended the meeting. UK faculty members Eleonora Pitta, Salvatore Grasso and Sulafudin Vukusic, and Chinese faculty representative Yuan Zhanbin joined the meeting. Cheng Yin chaired the meeting.

Cheng Yin first extended a warm welcome to the faculty members and student representatives attending the meeting. After that, student representatives from each year, drawing on their on-campus learning experience, spoke in turn on issues of common concerns among students, including the improvement of module content, the design of assessments, and the development of channels for academic consultation and feedback. They actively offered suggestions and put forward constructive proposals. Teaching staff, including Sulafudin and Salvatore, provided patient and detailed responses to the questions raised by the student representatives, and outlined follow-up improvement plans as well as specific measures for implementation. Li Wang then noted that the forum on the QM Plus platform serves as a high-quality and efficient channel for communication. She encouraged all participants to make full use of this function, to strengthen interaction between staff and students, and to address in a timely manner any issues that could not be clarified during class.

Subsequently, for final-year students approaching graduation, Cheng Yin reminded the student representatives to share relevant notices to their peers. She emphasised the importance of carefully checking individual academic scores before the graduation audit, conducting a comprehensive review of study-related issues, and effectively mitigating any risks that could affect timely graduation. Following this, Li Wang provided a brief introduction to the Student Ambassador Programme and the arrangements for the QMES Summer School, encouraging students to actively apply and participate, and to show the confidence, enthusiasm, friendliness, and positive spirit of QMES students.
Finally, Cheng Yin expressed her sincere gratitude to all faculty members and student representatives attending the meeting, and spoke highly of the outcomes achieved at the meeting. SVC will continue to serve as an effective bridge between staff and students, providing a smooth and efficient platform for communication. In an environment that fosters mutual learning and cultural exchange between China and UK, the Committee will contribute to the School’s mission of cultivating internationally oriented and innovative talent, while supporting students in broadening their development opportunities.
