On April 23, the fifth meeting of the Student-Staff Liaison Committee of QMES was held in Meeting Room 413, East Teaching Building A, Chang’an Campus. Director Cheng Yin, Deputy Director Fan Xiaoli, Faculty Members Qiyue, Shi Xuetao, Gao Pengfei, Wu A’jing, Maria Romero-Gonzalez, Gabriel Cavalli, Faith Nightingale and Alan Allman of the Student-Staff Liaison Committee, and all student members of the committee attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Cheng Yin.
Cheng Yin firstly expressed her gratitude to all the members for their hard work this year, and introduced the participants and main topics of this Student-Staff Liaison Committee meeting.Maria Romero-Gonzalez, the representative of faculty members, reported to the representatives on the progress of the preliminary meeting.Subsequently, the student members of the committee reported on the investigation of the students this semester, and gave feedbacks on their difficulties and doubts during their learning, extracurricular life, and personal development.
Faculty members, Qi Yue, Maria Romero-Gonzalez, Gabriel Cavalli, Faith Nightingale, and Alan Allman answered students’ questions in detail and said that all faculty and staff of QMES would spare no effort to improve the teaching environment and create a good learning atmosphere for students. They hoped that everyone could communicate with their teachers in time about the difficulties during the learning process and constantly improve their learning efficiency. What’s more, they emphasized that group discussion is one of the important modes of classroom learning, everyone should communicate with each other and cultivate their ability of academic cooperation gradually.At the same time, QMES will consider the relevant factorscomprehensively and optimize the curriculum structure, so as to improve the quality and efficiency of teaching.
The Student-Staff Liaison Committee is an important mechanism to promote the cultivation of talents, to guide, help and serve the growth of students, as well as to enhance the exchange between teachers and students of QMES, which has played an important role in promoting the development of QMESsince its establishment.The detailed preliminary research of students and the detailed answers of teacher representatives provide a strong guarantee for the further improvement of the daily management, curriculum provision and teaching affairs of QMES.
This meeting has enhanced the in-depth exchange between teachers and students of QMES, solved many problems that troubled students, and created more space for the development of QMES to strengthen the establishment of student’s morality and to cultivate all-round international talents.
