QMES Invited Xi’an Public Security Bureau High-tech Industries Development Branch to Conduct Themed Education Lecture of “Anti-Telecommunications Network Fraud”

In order to protect students’ property and further improve their discrimination of anti-fraud to curb the occurrence of various fraud cases, QMES carried out themed education lecture of anti-telecommunications network fraud on the afternoon of May 31, 2022, in West Teaching Building JD 205 according to the overall deployment of NPU and the unified arrangement of QMES. Officer Wang Dong from Xi’an Public Security Bureau High-tech Industries Development Branch, as the keynote speaker, gave a lively educational class to students about anti-telecommunications network fraud. All students of 2021 attended the lecture. The lecture was presided over by Zhuang Qiang, counselor of the students of 2021.

First of all, Officer Wang introduced to students what telecom fraud was, and listed the cases that actually happened around students. The large number of cases and the pervasiveness of criminals made students feel that telecommunications fraud was not far away from us, which effectively improved students’ awareness of fraud prevention. After that, Officer Wang warned students to raise their awareness of anti-telecommunications fraud on the basis of his personal experience in arresting overseas telecom fraud suspects in northern Myanmar in 2019 and his personal experience in participating in anti-fraud publicity in recent years. He emphasized that preventing telecommunications fraud was not only a way to protect our property, but also a kind of contribution to our country. He told students not to be panic when they encountered telecommunications fraud. They could report the case to local police station in time and police would help them stop losses in time.

Secondly, Officer Wang took stock of the top ten telecommunications fraud means, hoping that students would improve their awareness of fraud prevention in daily life. He mainly focused on the fraud means that frequently occur among college students such as part-timeclick farming, impersonating customer service or acquaintance fraud, game equipment transaction fraud, etc.

In the end, Officer Wang reminded students to keep in mind the “five no doings and one in time” anti-fraud mantra. “Five no doings” include don’t be afraid of calls from “public security law”and online shopping refund customer service;don’t believe QQ and WeChat boss transfer, online heterosexual dating, upgrading of bank card, increase of credit cards quota, unsecured large-amount loan; do not click links from unknown origin; do notbe greedy for clicking farming, various subsidies, tax rebates, winning prizes and high-return investment;do not transfer and disclose verification code, bank card information and do not transfer money without verifying the identity.“One in time” refers to report to the police in time. Zhuang Qiang deployed recent key work of the grade and emphasized the requirements of NPU and QMES towards epidemic reporting, classroom discipline, leaving and reporting system and civilized dormitory construction etc, and hoped that students could abide by various rules and regulations, pay attention to personal and property safety, develop themselves in an all-round way, improve their comprehensive quality through unremitting efforts and strive for excellence.

After the lecture, students said they had a deeper understanding of telecommunications network fraud through this theme lecture and they would further improve their awareness of fraud prevention, mastering all kinds of anti-fraud knowledge and common sense about security. They would also consciously abide by various rules and regulations of QMES, actively participating in various activities, continuously improving their competitiveness and making unremitting efforts for personal development and collective honor.
