On October 26, 2020, QMES and the Construction Department of NPU held a handover ceremony of the Internet Smart Classroom in the West Building of Youyi Campus. Wang Haitao, Deputy Director of the Teaching Affairs Department; Liu Yan'an, Deputy Director of the Construction Department; Kong Jie, Dean of QMES; Cheng Yin, Vice Dean of QMES and relevant staff of Construction Department attended the ceremony.
Kong Jie, Dean of QMES, introduced the overall construction of the Internet smart classroom in Youyi Campus, including the construction plan, the financing, the approval of the project by the university leaders and so forth. He also expressed heartful thanks to the Teaching Affairs Department, the Construction Department, the Purchase Center, the Information Department, the University Assets Administration Office and the Logistics Office for their strong support to this project during the COVID-19 pandemic period and for ensuring completion of this project on time. After the completion of the construction, all of the internet classrooms would be handed over to the Teaching Affairs Department for unified management. With internet smart classrooms, it is hoped to create a “learning community" of "teaching” & "learning" during international talent training. Deputy Director Wang Haitao of Teaching Affairs Department greatly affirmed the overall completion of the project and suggested that the project should be put into good use in teaching. In the intelligent classrooms, teachers could be conduct more flexible, diverse, and colorful lectures. The application of smart classroom further improved the overall teaching and education of NPU.
Deputy Director of theConstruction Department Liu Yan’an said that the Construction Department attached a great importance to it and quickly developed a rigorous construction plan. After active communication and coordination, the construction was in strict accordance with the specifications. With the strong support of all related units in the university, the construction was initiated on August 10, 2020, and the renovation and indoor environmental quality inspection and testing were completed on September 22, 2020, six days ahead of schedule. He stressed that the completion of the project did not mean the end of service. Construction Department would do its best to ensure the normal operation of the internet smart classrooms.
After visiting 9 smart classrooms and 2 teachers' lounges, a key handover ceremony was held. Kong Jie, Dean of QMES and Liu Yan’an, Deputy Director of Construction Department handed over the key to Wang Haitao, Deputy Director of Teaching Affairs Department and Wang Xu, teacher from the Student Registration Center. After the construction of this project, the Student Registration Center of the Teaching Affairs Department would coordinate the management of the Internet smart classroom.
It is reported that the internet smart classroom project was approved by the university on April 24, 2020. A total of 11 smart classrooms were built with the cost of more than 4 million yuan. The project was successfully completed with the strong support of all relevant units of the university. The completion and smooth handover of the internet smart classrooms will provide a better teaching environment for the senior undergraduates and postgraduates of QMES in Materials Science and Engineering, as well as teachers and students from other colleges in Youyi Campus.
