On the afternoon of May 29, 2024, QMES held the themed educational event “Final Lesson at NPU” for the graduating class of 2024 undergraduate students at the Lecture Hall on the second floor of the East Teaching Building. All undergraduate students from the 2020 class participated in the event. Huang Quanzhang, Director of the Student Affairs Office, chaired the session.

With courage and determination, Dai Fuping first led all students to reflect on the scenes from their enrollment in 2020, from military training to their first classes, recalling the past vividly. The president’s earnest advice at the time of admission seems to echo in their ears: “Cultivate patriotic sentiments, nurture lofty ideals; be knowledgeable and thoughtful, pursue genuine talents and practical knowledge; seek innovation and creativity tirelessly; strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, broaden international perspectives.” Following this, Dai Fuping recounted the significant achievements NPU has made in teaching and research under the guidance of the “Chief Engineer Education Culture” in recent years. He emphasised the substantial contributions of NPU to forging national pillars and nurturing future leaders. He hoped that students would always remember the school motto of “Integrity, Sincerity, Courage, Perseverance” and the school spirit of “Solid foundation, diligent work ethic, modest demeanour, and pioneering innovation”, and as young people of the new era, they would dedicate themselves to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

With vigorous efforts, pursuing dreams forward. Dai Fuping congratulates the Class of 2020 on nearing completion of their studies, poised to venture across the globe in pursuit of their dreams. Reflecting on four years of undergraduate life, students have emerged from uncertainty through determined progress, firmly establishing their life’s ambitions. Overcoming numerous challenges, they have excelled in rigorous coursework and enriching scientific competitions. Fostered under an educational model emphasizing inclusivity and innovative thinking, students have significantly advanced their critical thinking and innovative practices. Dai Fuping commended students for their tremendous efforts in seeking knowledge and their fruitful achievements, sharing personal academic challenges as an encouragement for students to seize the opportunities bestowed by the times and bravely pursue their dreams in the new era.

Staying true to the original aspirations, and persevering in our endeavours. The fate of the youth is deeply intertwined with the times. As they leave the university, students will scatter across the world, striving to become the backbone of our motherland. Dai Fuping’s message to all: Born in an era of prosperity, let us share the opportunities; cultivate strong qualities for comprehensive development; bravely take on heavy responsibilities; embrace the world and demonstrate leadership; stepping through the university gates, let our original intentions remain steadfast; always walk the righteous path; become an outstanding QMESer and achieve great success in the advancing tide of this era.

Graduation marks both the end of a journey and the beginning of a new one. The theme education of “Last Lesson at NPU” bid a heartfelt farewell to graduating students, helping QMES students to better understand the historical mission bestowed by the times. The new era belongs to the striving and the youth. We wish the graduates to retain their youthful enthusiasm throughout their new journey in life, and to forge ahead with determination and aspiration.
