The meeting was chaired by Zhang Hongyi, Executive President of the School of Software Student Union.

Firstly, Zhang Hongyi stated that the purpose of this exchange meeting was to enhance mutual understanding, learn from the strengths of the student unions of other faculties, address their weaknesses, improve the capabilities of key student union members, and better serve the broader student body while actively contributing to the development of the faculty. Xin Yuchen, the head of the Office of the School of Software Student Union, introduced the basic situation of the union, covering aspects such as work content, key focuses, departmental strengths, and prospects. Chen Jiaxin, the head of the Organisation Department, presented the department’s work, including an overview, work review, and future outlook. Zhang Hongyi provided further comments and outlined plans for the future development of the student union’s work.

Subsequently, Yong Siyu, Executive President of the QMES Student Union, introduced the structure of the student union, the responsibilities of each department, internal development, and future work plans. Sun Minghong, Head of the New Media Department, presented an overview of his department’s activities, highlighted key initiatives and organisational mechanisms, and shared insights and experiences gained from working in new media.

Finally, members of both student unions engaged in an interactive exchange. Zhang Hongyi emphasised that “doing practical work for the students” has always been the central focus of the student union’s activities. He stated that all student union members should remain committed to serving their peers wholeheartedly, stay true to their original intentions, and remember their responsibilities. They should strive to create a conducive environment for research and academic learning while actively contributing to the development of a high-quality and efficient student union organisation.

After the meeting, members of the QMES Student Union organised a debriefing and learning session for all union members, drawing on the experiences and practices of their peer institutions. They also made adjustments and optimisations to the focus of their work for the current semester.

The successful organisation of this exchange meeting has strengthened the friendship between the student unions of the partner colleges and facilitated greater communication and cooperation between the institutions. It has played a positive role in promoting the collaborative development of both student unions and has provided solid support for enhancing the quality and efficiency of the QMES Student Union’s work.
