On 18th September, the “European Cultural Salon” organised by QMES took place in the Salon Room of Qizhen Community, the “One-Stop Community”, within Haitianyuan Student Dormitory Area. Through this event, students experienced firsthand the unique local customs and cultures of European countries and gained access to study-abroad information about renowned European universities. This laid a solid foundation for them to make precise career plans and chart their future development paths.

At the start of the event, a teacher from the Multilingual Department of the School of Continuing Education introduced the cultural characteristics of several countries, including Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Spain, allowing students to appreciate the unique charm of diverse cultures in a relaxed atmosphere. Subsequently, the teacher focused on leading universities across Europe, offering comprehensive and detailed insights into degree programmes, language requirements, study costs, and other topics of interest to students.

To enrich students’ cultural experience, the salon featured a specially designed introductory German class. The German teacher introduced the origins and cultural background of the language, guided students through the German alphabet and pronunciation, and explained basic grammatical structures using simple example sentences. In addition, an engaging game session was organised, where lively Q&A interactions not only created a vibrant atmosphere but also deepened students’ understanding of European culture in an enjoyable way. The salon concluded with a tasting session of traditional French delicacies, allowing participants to experience the charm of European culture through its distinctive flavours.

Amid bursts of laughter and cheers, the salon came to a successful conclusion. Not only did the students reap abundant joy, but they also effectively broadened their international horizons and enriched their knowledge related to studying abroad, thereby gaining fresh impetus for their academic and career planning.
