On 20 May 2025, QMES conducted the final review and acceptance of the College Students' Innovative Entrepreneurial Training Plan Program projects. This initiative aimed to strengthen whole-process management of such initiatives, systematically evaluate project outcomes and talent development effectiveness, and further enhance QMES’s quality and standards of practical teaching.

This year, a total of 101 projects at QMES reached the final review and acceptance stage. Among these, 16 national-level projects were evaluated by NPU as part of the 5th Undergraduate “Learning by Doing” Achievement Exhibition and the 18th National College Students Innovative Annual Conference Project Selection Event. Meanwhile, 56 provincial-level and 29 university-level projects underwent oral defence and review procedures organised centrally by QMES. These were conducted in accordance with a standardised process comprising public defence, expert evaluation, and archival documentation, leading to the successful conclusion of the assessment. The concluded projects focused on cutting-edge fields such as advanced functional materials, green energy conversion, biomedical technologies, and flexible smart devices, spanning a range of interdisciplinary areas including materials design, device development, and applied research.

To ensure the smooth execution of the project conclusion process, QMES conducted thorough preparatory planning and meticulous coordination. A review panel comprised of QMES experts was established, and five defence panels were organised to carry out centralised evaluations. Project teams delivered presentations and engaged in defences covering the background of their topics, research processes, interim outcomes, and budget utilisation. The evaluation process emphasised holistic project management, with assessments conducted against seven key criteria: project overview, research conduct, level of completion, documentation completeness, innovation, financial support, and output delivery. This approach underscored the importance of both procedural rigour and practical implementation throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful conclusion of these projects represents not only a comprehensive review of academic outcomes but also a clear embodiment of QMES’s educational philosophy of “fostering talent through practice and strengthening capability through innovation”. By engaging in these projects, students have honed their professional competencies and enhanced their innovative thinking in authentic research environments, demonstrating the exploratory and pioneering spirit characteristic of NPU students. Moving forward, QMES will continue to deepen the implementation of its Chief Engineer Education Culture, reinforce the development of innovation and entrepreneurship practice platforms, and refine its holistic practice-based education system. These efforts aim to consistently elevate students’ engineering proficiency and comprehensive abilities, nurturing future “chief engineer-style” talents who possess a strong sense of mission, an international perspective, and outstanding practical capabilities.
